It was a child’s fantasyland. It hadn’t been lived in for years and my parents were able to rent it cheaply just to keep an eye on it. Then it encompassed 10 acres including the Scott park with pond next to it. It had been built as party house retreat. There were three guest cabins scattered discreetly on the acreage, the pond ad an island and dock, a pool house and inground pool, huge barbecue and covered shelter next to it, an Oriental decorative pond by the house, and large coop for the free-ranging peacocks back in the day.
It needs a lot of work.

The house has been so remodeled inside it’s hard to tell where the original rooms were but there were not many of them. The little room by the front door was round inside, with a fireplace and built-in curved cabinet for liquor. The living room was huge open space with cathedral ceiling and beams, FP, and and one tall picture window with a nook I used to read in. The dining room was across the foyer and thru that was glassed-in ballroom. Yes a ballroom. The MBR was on the main floor, the kitchen was remarkably small but a magnificent built in butlers pantry was next to it. There was garage below with chauffeurs quarters. Upstairs was strange. A small bedroom on one side of the stairs and the other side was open with a smaller room in back of it. Obviously the guests were accomadated in the separate cottages.

The barn was built by the people who bought it after us. They had Tennessee Walking horses.

The exterior of the one-story stone house and the 2-1/2 story frame house are very nice. (I assume they are separate buildings)
The interior looks like a hippie-crafted vegan hunting lodge.

It isnt quite my style, but I like it, it is definitely interesting, and has a lot of nice details and ornamentation, some of the lights are rather nice. It does look like it needs a bit of work but it is livable as it is and you could live there and progressively finish what needs finishing/ fixing
I'd prefer this to some bland modern lookalike house, even if it does need a bit more maintenance

Please don't say 'Oriental'. It wounds.

I thought it was proper in a decorative sense^^. But it was called the Chinese pond then.

It seemed all the same house but specifically designed to look like a woodland seven dwarfs cottage in front with the rest of going down the slope in back. Like original owners had their own ideas implemented. We were living there in 1960s and the decor and tile were 30-40s style. A giant braided carpet, like a giant rag rug covered the LR wall to wall.
