Graham Linehan arrested for making mean tweets about trans

The Father Ted creator was arrested at Heathrow.

[quote]In a Substack article titled I just got arrested – again, Linehan said: “The moment I stepped off the plane at Heathrow, five armed police officers were waiting. Not one, not two—five. They escorted me to a private area and told me I was under arrest for three tweets.”

[quote]One of the tweets, according to Linehan, read: “If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.”

Who?

by Anonymousreply 1September 2, 2025 7:05 PM

JK you in danger cis-girl!

by Anonymousreply 2September 2, 2025 7:08 PM

Funny enough, I haven't heard or known of any prominent trans men/women figure from the UK.

by Anonymousreply 3September 2, 2025 7:10 PM

I recently watched the first season of Father Ted and it was ok. I don’t think I got it.

I was expecting something sharper and more witty. It was very gag driven.

He should be allowed to say whatever he likes. We all should. And no, I don’t mean screaming “FIRE!” in a crowded theatre.

by Anonymousreply 4September 2, 2025 7:11 PM

If his story is true, it's crazy.

by Anonymousreply 5September 2, 2025 7:12 PM

UK has gone full Orwell for trannies

by Anonymousreply 6September 2, 2025 7:13 PM

Anyone UK residents here care to chime in on the “culture war” stuff I keep seeing on social media and YouTube?

It seems like the right is in lockstep over dismantling universal human rights.

by Anonymousreply 7September 2, 2025 7:15 PM

What a sad life he leads.

by Anonymousreply 8September 2, 2025 7:20 PM

He's fighting a good fight

by Anonymousreply 9September 2, 2025 7:23 PM

So now being an asshole is a crime?

by Anonymousreply 10September 2, 2025 7:24 PM

I have zero idea what is going on but I'd bet the rent money he did more than just post mean tweets.

by Anonymousreply 11September 2, 2025 7:24 PM

Right-wingers are mad at people being arrested for hating trans people, but fine with people being detained for criticizing Israel, which is what Trump is doing

Why are people like this so obsessed with the trans community?

by Anonymousreply 12September 2, 2025 7:25 PM

R11 you'd be wrong

by Anonymousreply 13September 2, 2025 7:25 PM

I don’t understand how speech works in the UK. I understand you don’t have a first amendment right like in the US but between this and that MP’s wife being imprisoned for a twitter comment longer than many people committing violence I can’t follow the legal boundaries.

by Anonymousreply 14September 2, 2025 7:27 PM

R13 - how do you know? You don't.

by Anonymousreply 15September 2, 2025 7:27 PM

England’s police force routinely monitor people’s Twitter accounts and call them up over their girls can’t be boys retweets to ask if the person is thinking okay. This has been going on for years.

The UK is a very, very frightening place. You want to talk Orwellian, go try living in it. You’ll be arrested for a hate crime if you say that Islam is a barbaric religion.

The one thing the US got right was the First Amendment.

by Anonymousreply 16September 2, 2025 7:28 PM

R14, that’s the problem with hate speech laws. Anything can be deemed hate.

by Anonymousreply 17September 2, 2025 7:28 PM

[quote] Right-wingers are mad at people being arrested for hating trans people, but fine with people being detained for criticizing Israel, which is what Trump is doing

Go back to sleep, Troon.

by Anonymousreply 18September 2, 2025 7:29 PM

He also created IT Crowd and Black Books, which are wonderful. I forgive him.

by Anonymousreply 19September 2, 2025 7:30 PM

[quote] I have zero idea what is going on but I'd bet the rent money he did more than just post mean tweets.

Nope. This happens all the time. People are currently serving jail time for their “hate speech” tweets which are deemed inciting racial violence.

by Anonymousreply 20September 2, 2025 7:30 PM

[quote] It seems like the right is in lockstep over dismantling universal human rights.

That would be the Left.

by Anonymousreply 21September 2, 2025 7:31 PM

He is inciting violence against people. Because of their identity. This isn't him saying “I hate trans people” it’s him saying “be violent against trans people” given his position of influence on this issue he’s putting trans people in danger. I’m not big on speech violations or police interference on speech but he is very clearly and intentionally putting trans people in harms way via his published words. What do you do with someone like this otherwise?

by Anonymousreply 22September 2, 2025 7:31 PM

Tell us more r15

by Anonymousreply 23September 2, 2025 7:32 PM

R22 lol you're just talking shit

by Anonymousreply 24September 2, 2025 7:33 PM

R24 which part?

by Anonymousreply 25September 2, 2025 7:34 PM

Yes, freedom of speech is very restricted in the U.K. which is now jailing people who did nothing but post dissenting opinions on social media, criticizing the government's policies and disagreeing with transgender ideology.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer really said this: "Today we're due sentencing for online behavior. That's a reminder to everyone that whether you're directly involved or whether you're remotely involved, you're culpable and you'll be put before the courts if you've broken the law."

Director of Public Prosecutions Stephen Parkinson further stated: "We do have dedicated police officers who are scouring social media. Their job is to look for this material and then follow up with identification, arrests, and so forth."

The U.K. has descended into an authoritarian system of government, embracing more a spirit of socialism than representative democracy. The Democrats tried installing those same policies in the U.S. via the Biden administration (remember people getting cited/canceled for misgendering people?) but thankfully they weren't successful.

by Anonymousreply 26September 2, 2025 7:36 PM

R24 everything you wrote.

Start with the inciting violence against people part.

by Anonymousreply 27September 2, 2025 7:36 PM

[quote] Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.

R27

by Anonymousreply 28September 2, 2025 7:39 PM

Is that why they arrested him and banned him off Twitter? R28

Oh no, mercy

by Anonymousreply 29September 2, 2025 7:41 PM

R22 He made a joke about women confronting trans women in a female-only space. He said the women should punch them in the bollocks.

Even the policewoman interviewing him saw the joke aspect and replied "We're not all THAT short!".

by Anonymousreply 30September 2, 2025 7:41 PM

HISTORIES GREATEST MONSTER

by Anonymousreply 31September 2, 2025 7:43 PM

Men shouldn't be in women's toilets. They can fuck off.

Even Prime Minister Keir Starmer has criticised the police for this dumb arrest. I like the way that he stressed that police shouldn't be wasting time on arresting Linehan but fighting crime such as violence against women.

[quote]Sir Keir Starmer has told police to concentrate on tackling serious crime after Graham Linehan was arrested over gender-critical social media posts.

[quote]The Prime Minister criticised the Metropolitan Police after the comedy writer was arrested by five armed officers at Heathrow airport as he got off a flight.

[...]

[quote]On Tuesday afternoon the Prime Minister’s spokesman suggested police should be concentrating on issues that “matter most to their communities”.

[quote]He said: “This is an operational matter for the police, but the Prime Minister and the Home Secretary have been clear about what their priorities on crime and policing are: that’s tackling antisocial behaviour, shoplifting and street crime as well as reducing serious violent crime such as knife crime and violence against women.”

[quote]The spokesman continued: “The Met Police Commissioner himself has talked previously about recruits joining the police to protect the public, and that he wants the police to exist to protect the public, spending their time dealing with the issues that matter most to their communities.”

by Anonymousreply 32September 2, 2025 7:45 PM

R29 I didn’t do it read the article.

R30 it’s not exactly written as a joke. Idk this kind of 8 year old excuse “it was a joke” thing I see umpteen times a day on twitter doesn’t rly hold much water for me. If I see some men’s rights thread talking about beating up their wives and then saying “it’s a joke!” when challenged, I don’t believe them, and I don’t believe you sorry.

by Anonymousreply 33September 2, 2025 7:45 PM

R33, if a man enters the women's toilets, how should the women react?

by Anonymousreply 34September 2, 2025 7:46 PM

When was the last time that happened? Except in your masturbation fantasies.

by Anonymousreply 35September 2, 2025 7:49 PM

Apparently the tweet for which Linehan was arrested was:

[quote] If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.

This arrest is really boomeranging on the Met Police.

by Anonymousreply 36September 2, 2025 7:50 PM

I though over the top authoritarian police speech policing for objecting to trans craziness was over... guess not

Gotta ride this thing out to the end, apparently

by Anonymousreply 37September 2, 2025 7:51 PM

If he had posted that people should wait outside gay bars and punch gay guys as they leave what would our DL ATLs say in reply?

Lol at the misogynistic man at r35, who thinks we women deep down actually want men in our loos and changing rooms, especially the fetishist men who think they're women.

It's happened plenty of times, r35, there are even workplace tribunals in the UK about it right now. Thankfully, however, now that the Supreme Court has clarified the law and specified that single-sex women's spaces are for biological women and not transwomen it will happen a lot less. Prior to this, however, the trans activists - through vehicles such as anti-gay organisation Stonewall - had lied to everyone and told them that the Equality Act included transwomen as women, so department stores, workplaces, public buildings, universities, gyms, hospitals, etc. were all allowing biological males into women's loos and changing rooms.

But, are you saying that you don't believe that people should use the facility that aligns with their "gender identity"? You don't believe that transwomen should use women's bathrooms?

by Anonymousreply 40September 2, 2025 7:56 PM

Let's try that again:

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 41September 2, 2025 7:56 PM

R38 is that what happened?

Is that an accurate analogy?

by Anonymousreply 42September 2, 2025 7:57 PM

What are you on about r38? That's not a comparable example at all. Men should not be in women's bathrooms or changing rooms, especially the deluded men who claim that they're women.

by Anonymousreply 43September 2, 2025 7:58 PM

R42 no it’s not what happened.

I think it is an accurate analogy. Tell you what, you come up with an analogy for gay people as group from his tweet.

by Anonymousreply 44September 2, 2025 8:00 PM

R44 No. You made your crazy bed. Lie in it

by Anonymousreply 45September 2, 2025 8:06 PM

R45 lol ok.

by Anonymousreply 46September 2, 2025 8:08 PM

From his Wiki:

"After an episode of The IT Crowd was criticized as transphobic, Linehan became involved in anti-transgender activism. He argues that transgender activism endangers women and has likened the use of puberty blockers to Nazi eugenics. Linehan says his views have 'consumed his life', lost him work, and ended his marriage."

by Anonymousreply 47September 2, 2025 8:12 PM

I thought police in the UK didn’t carry guns except where there was a known threat. Did they really think this aging keyboard warrior needed 5 armed police to be arrested?

by Anonymousreply 48September 2, 2025 8:15 PM

Seems right

by Anonymousreply 49September 2, 2025 8:15 PM

lol I meant r47's wiki based synopsis of the trans craziness seems right.

by Anonymousreply 50September 2, 2025 8:19 PM

Is he retarded? He looks retarded.

by Anonymousreply 51September 2, 2025 8:20 PM

He's not. Are you r51? It's hard to tell

by Anonymousreply 52September 2, 2025 8:23 PM

R48, the police here were the specialist airport section, which is routinely armed.

by Anonymousreply 53September 2, 2025 8:32 PM

I think it’s a fine line one has to look at critically. Was it hatred he was spewing or inciting violence? Even in the US, one can’t yell fire in a crowded theater without repercussions.

Also, would he be arrested on the same charges if he said exactly the same thing but it was directed towards gay men? Would you all feel differently?

by Anonymousreply 54September 2, 2025 8:34 PM

I just don't understand the air of aggrieved resentment you trans-haters have. You've won! Trans people are being stripped of their rights and their medical care all over the English speaking world. The most repulsive "trans-vestigators" and now empowered to humiliate anyone who they deem not sufficiently gender-appropriate. And you're still complaining.

Talk about sore winners.

by Anonymousreply 55September 2, 2025 8:40 PM

Even lunatic Owen Jones is defending Linehan on twitter.

by Anonymousreply 56September 2, 2025 8:41 PM

by Anonymousreply 57September 2, 2025 8:43 PM

Are you concerned that they haven't been stripped of enough rights?

by Anonymousreply 58September 2, 2025 8:49 PM

R32 Fags shouldn't be in men's bathrooms.

by Anonymousreply 59September 2, 2025 8:50 PM

R59 False equivalence. Gay men are biological men. Therefore, we use the men's bathroom.

by Anonymousreply 60September 2, 2025 8:55 PM

It all gets so consuming with trannies

by Anonymousreply 61September 2, 2025 8:57 PM

Biological men who have sexual desire for other men. Why should straight men have to deal with your pervy sex fetishes when all they want to do is have a pee? England needs to come to its senses and ban these sexual aggressors from normal men's bathrooms!

by Anonymousreply 62September 2, 2025 8:57 PM

lol autocorrect

Confusing.

But yes. Also

by Anonymousreply 63September 2, 2025 8:58 PM

That’s a valid point. Banning trans in bathrooms with that argument could also be used against gay men.

by Anonymousreply 64September 2, 2025 9:10 PM

R22 You are such an astonishingly stupid person one wonders about how damaged your parents were or are. He's saying if a biological male who says he is a woman is in a woman's space such as a female locker room kick him in the balls. This is sexual predation and violence is fully warranted. The fact you don't understand this makes you a very disturbed individual.

by Anonymousreply 65September 2, 2025 9:10 PM

Men using men's bathrooms is anti-gay

by Anonymousreply 66September 2, 2025 9:11 PM

R55 gets turned on by the idea of castrating boys and giving mastectomies to girls.

by Anonymousreply 67September 2, 2025 9:13 PM

by Anonymousreply 68September 2, 2025 9:13 PM

by Anonymousreply 69September 2, 2025 9:17 PM

I guess this thread had been closed.

by Anonymousreply 70September 2, 2025 9:36 PM

I dont fully agree with what he said, I mean punching people is a bit far, but arresting him for it is utterly ridiculous and absurd given the far more pressing issues going on in the UK. The police should never have been involved in this full stop

by Anonymousreply 73September 2, 2025 10:06 PM

Kicking him in the balls seems like a more realistic option than punching, as women are usually shorter than men.

by Anonymousreply 74September 2, 2025 10:10 PM

Backward Irish boomers gonna boom!

by Anonymousreply 75September 2, 2025 10:13 PM

R65 "This is sexual predation and violence is fully warranted"

I don't think it is. And you'd still be arrested for violence. You've conflated about ten laws.

by Anonymousreply 76September 2, 2025 10:17 PM

He seems like an obsessed oddball, but I don't think he should be arrested for those tweets.

by Anonymousreply 77September 2, 2025 10:20 PM

[quote] Biological men who have sexual desire for other men. Why should straight men have to deal with your pervy sex fetishes when all they want to do is have a pee? England needs to come to its senses and ban these sexual aggressors from normal men's bathrooms!

Another false equivalence and more proof that you're a moron. Sexual orientation and gender identity are not the same. Gay men have nothing to do with this fight over the bathroom. Stop trying to make this a gay rights issue. It is not.

by Anonymousreply 78September 2, 2025 10:21 PM

R76 tell that to Charles Manson

by Anonymousreply 79September 2, 2025 10:21 PM

R79 what's your point

I'm interested in how you connect this all to Charles Manson, it sounds very intriguing

by Anonymousreply 80September 2, 2025 10:23 PM

You stated that one needs to commit violence personally to be arrested for violence. If that were true, why was Charles Manson arrested?r80

by Anonymousreply 81September 2, 2025 10:46 PM

The prosecution contended that, while Manson never directly ordered the murders, his ideology constituted an overt act of conspiracy. R80

by Anonymousreply 82September 2, 2025 10:47 PM

You tell me r81

Very interested in your theory

This is always how it goes in the crazy trans threads

by Anonymousreply 83September 2, 2025 10:49 PM

R81 Trans people like em or not are not criminal masterminds conspiring to have their underlings to commit violent murders though. Not even all conspirators are murderers.

by Anonymousreply 84September 2, 2025 10:50 PM

Good!!!

Fuck these rightwing lunatics inciting violence against vulnerable minorities, specially a LGBTTQ 🏳️‍🌈 minority.

The sheer power of the trans movement is astonishing. Can you imagine, during a comparable phase in the gay rights movement, anyone, anywhere being arrested for saying disobliging things about gay people? I can remember so-called “respectable” newspapers agitating for the re-criminalisation of homosexuality at the time. Did the police visit them? Hell no. I can’t get my head around the notion that trans people are uniquely vulnerable and persecuted while simultaneously having the upper echelons of the police force and government on speed-dial.

I say this all the time, but it doesn't resonate well with the anti-trans people going on an on about penises in women's spaces. . Just where are trans people supposed to use the bathroom?

There are lots of trans people who are dressed fully as women, and while they might not invited to be in the finals of the Miss America pageant, they are still perceived as women. What would they face if they used a men's room? Does anyone honestly believe that there wouldn't be lots of rude comments, catcalls, grabbing, if not actual physical violence?

Aren't women's rooms in Britain single occupancy stalls, lined up, as they are in the US, with no open spaces below or above? Either A) the trans person may have undergone bottom surgery, in which case there would be no penis to see, or B) there is a penis, but it won't be on display, because the person would have been inside a stall.

But maybe I'm wrong, and it's a long-standing rule that anyone entering a women's room strips down instantly to the point of nudity and walks around with skirt around ankles until a stall opens up.

Men dressed as men can still enter a women's room and, provided there is only a single woman in there, a rape is possible. (Which is a drag, and a pox on any man who would do that - there's no punishment too severe). So the perceived safety of a women-only space is primarily psychological. Granted, there's safety in numbers, so 5 women could easily repel a single male "invader". But that's not always the situation.

I know there have been exceptions and people like to drag them out, of males with beards wearing a dress and going into a women's room with full-on erections. But I think such instances are rare as hens' teeth.

by Anonymousreply 110September 3, 2025 7:16 AM

But R110, before the trans were invented by the Loony Left, rapists were stopped dead in their tracks by the “Ladies” sign on the door. It wasn’t until rapist children were easily recruited into the trans cult that women became unsafe and continually gang-raped by the huge number of straight male assaulters who make the easy and safe decision to throw on dresses and even legally change their gender all in an effort to violate women’s spaces and bodies.

They are all predators, and we must make life as fraught and difficult as possible for them. Barring that, we must kill them.

by Anonymousreply 111September 3, 2025 7:45 AM

Oh, right r111. I forgot that people obey every sign they ever see. Just ask people who put up the signs that say "keep off the grass".

I'm perpetually confused by people and organizations who will spend millions of dollars on lawsuits to defend the sanctity of a single sex bathroom for multiple users, when $35,000 would enable them to construct a lockable one-person bathroom labeled "all -gender". That's what people living in families have at home, right? Problem solved.

by Anonymousreply 112September 3, 2025 8:01 AM

The American posters on this story are funny, because they don't realise just what a complete mess the police have made with their arrest of Linehan for a tweet.

[quote]I'm perpetually confused by people and organizations who will spend millions of dollars on lawsuits to defend the sanctity of a single sex bathroom for multiple users,

Not sure which people or organisations you're referring to (just who exactly has spent millions on such lawsuits?), but in the UK, where Linehan lives, the Supreme Court has clarified that single-sex means single sex not single "gender identity" and the ones spending around quarter of a million pounds on lawsuits they are losing are organisations such as NHS Fife, which deliberately misinterpreted the law and allowed men into women's changing rooms whilst persecuting female staff who object to men in the women's changing rooms, especially men who are undressing in them.

The point is that if an Obvious Man is in the Women’s bathroom/change room, the option of verbally addressing him and asking if he knows he is in the Ladies’ Room is gone. Women can’t even tell them to fuck off.

Because gender > sex and we are told that you can’t tell someone’s gender by their appearance. Because the people who believe gender > sex believe don’t just want to use the bathroom, they want to be welcomed and validated.

No one should be arrested for a joke. He could be banned from Twitter, canceled etc. but arresting him was insane, Thank God, the US has freedom of speech and it’s almost impossible to be arrested for any type of speech.

by Anonymousreply 115September 3, 2025 11:55 AM

Id be amazed if any charges are filed.

by Anonymousreply 116September 3, 2025 12:54 PM

Interesting to hear what Owen Jones' homophobic bestie Juno Dawson has to say about his treachery to the cause. Maybe she'll change from saying most gay men are really cowardly trans women to all gay men are.

by Anonymousreply 117September 3, 2025 1:15 PM

People have used Twitter to make real threats of violence against politicians, things like that, and posts about mass casualty events are the kinds of things you investigate someone for, not saying to punch someone in the balls.

Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley tries to distance himself from the actions of some of his officers. Says the Met police force will make its policy on which online statements will be investigated more stringent, Calls for government to clarify when action should be taken - this will certainly not go well for the trans activists.

[quote]Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has said his officers should not be "policing toxic culture wars debates" as he responded to criticism of his force's arrest of Father Ted writer Graham Linehan over anti-trans [sic] posts.

[quote]The UK's top police officer said his officers are in an "impossible position", adding that he has offered to provide suggestions to the Home Office about clarifying the law and policy within weeks.

[quote]"Greater clarity and common sense would enable us to limit the resources we dedicate to tackling online statements to those cases creating real threats in the real world," he said.

[quote]Mr Rowley added that the Metropolitan Police would be more selective about which social media posts they investigate in future.

[quote]"We will be putting in place a more stringent triaging process to make sure only the most serious cases are taken forward in future - where there is a clear risk of harm or disorder."

by Anonymousreply 127September 3, 2025 4:46 PM

It's silly complaining about tweets to the police anyway - unless they're obvious violent threats (eg death threats), as it just encourages the behaviour.

The English police go after Whites who post wrongspeak but do next to nothing to muslim rapists of thousands of White girls.

R127 I thought was likely to be the case - most of the Police themselves would NOT happy about having to do this sort of thing, knowing full well that it is both pointless, infuriating and bad for their public image.

And I hate to say it, but R129 sort of has a point, the issue not being the Police so much as the judiciary and the government itself

What did Linehan actually write in his tweets?

If it was something making fun of or a negative opinion of a trans person that’s one thing. But if he advocated violence that’s another.

The full tweet has already been posted in the thread, r143, but just the fact that the government is condemning the arrest and the police themselves are asking for clarification and want the regulations tightened so they don't get called out for such nonsense reasons anymore should tell you how tame this tweet was.

Apparently the person who reported Linehan's tweet is an ex-police officer who was apparently removed from the force and now spends much of his time reporting tweets for being "anti-trans". Needless to say, he claims he's a woman.

by Anonymousreply 145September 4, 2025 10:33 AM

Ah, that’s why I saw conversations about balls, do women have them, punching, pronouns when I briefly visited X.

Talk about reaching.

Thanks r145.

by Anonymousreply 146September 4, 2025 10:39 AM

A bit of context, from one who lives in the UK:

One reason this incident annoys a lot of people here is that FIVE officers arrested Linehan ( I agree with the poster who said he looks retarded. But he's not... he's just comedic Irish. See also: Chris O'Dowd). In the past decade, all sorts of crime ~ from phone theft to knife attacks to rape ~ have massively increased in the UK. At the same time, the police force is having an unprecedented hard time attracting and retaining officers.

So, even for Brits who have no opinions about the trans debate, it seems grossly out-of-proportion to send five officers to arrest someone (with no history of physical violence) for controversial tweets, especially given the current shortage of police officers and rising property and violent crime. Add to that, the fact that those in power seems to be disavowing this arrest (Starmer pointing fingers at the police, Police Chief Rowley distancing himself from this incident, etc), It all leads to a feeling of bumbling incompetence.

by Anonymousreply 147September 4, 2025 11:13 AM

Not only that, r147, but the five police officers went and waited for him on the tarmac at Heathrow to apprehend him when he got off a flight, as though he were some violent, dangerous criminal who was at risk of escaping.

by Anonymousreply 148September 4, 2025 11:46 AM

Oh, and more context from Britain to add to my 147 post:

Currently, the UK police are making an average of more than 30 arrests/ day for "offences related to online communications." I think most of us believed that policing the internet would lead to some arrests for things like murder threats or plans for terrorist attacks. But, there are so many arrests, and more than a few seem to be about relatively petty matters. Linehan was allegedly arrested for the following 3 tweets: - One tweet from April 20 stated: "If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops, and if all else fails, punch him in the balls". - A second tweet, posted on April 19, featured an aerial photograph of a protest crowd and was captioned: "A photo you can smell". - The third tweet, a response to the second, read: "I hate them. Misogynists and homophobes. F*** em".

Another incident that happened here not long ago involved parents who complained about school administration in a WhatsApp group and were arrested by SIX police officers. (I'm over-simplifying, of course. I've attached a link so you can read more, if interested.) This, also, leads to the feeling that the government is clamping down on free speech.

So, again, I think that this with Linehan case is attracting a fair bit of attention less because of public opinions about the Trans issue, and more because of public concerns about potential government overreach.

Allowing trans people to exist is now “misogyny”.

It’s tough to separate people who build their entire personality around hate from MAGA. Same principle, different targets.

I don’t understand why so many care that a gay man or boy wants to wear a dress and pretend. Bud light was cold piss long before the man in a dress showed up. Unless it deals with some unfair advantage over females ,a man presenting as female , who should care? It impacts me not one tiny bit.

This is homophobia and it’s attacked because it’s easy low hanging fruit..

by Anonymousreply 154September 4, 2025 1:25 PM

Most trans are straight R154 - they are men who fancy women.

Lucky you don't have any female relatives, friends or colleagues who could be put at potential risk by a perverted man claiming to be a woman (which is NOT the same as a genuine trans person) could be in their single sex spaces.

by Anonymousreply 155September 4, 2025 1:55 PM

There are gay men so upset and ashamed about the trans issue they will insist all those MtF trans now sucking cock and getting ass fucked are all straight men.

I get it a lot of gay men are quite upset and embarrassed by the trans. I have known quite a few MtF trans and every one I know was a gay boy before they became a woman. I know lots of regular gay men who will wear woman’s clothes and call their ass a pussy when getting fucked. That is not normally a straight guy thing.

by Anonymousreply 156September 4, 2025 2:06 PM

It's not really contested by anyone with serious knowledge that the majority of MtF these days are sexually interested in women. The old-school gay to trans types are a distinct minority.

by Anonymousreply 157September 4, 2025 2:29 PM

Most of the old-school tranvestites in the 1950's were straight & married.

(a transvestite is not trangender, I know)

For those curious, the Met Musim in NY has an exhibit of 1950's transvestites, "Casa Susana".

by Anonymousreply 158September 4, 2025 2:52 PM

There's a very good Storyville documentary on Casa Susanna that's available on BBC iPlayer. It doesn't really have much to do with this thread, but it's worth watching.

by Anonymousreply 159September 4, 2025 3:06 PM

[quote]Currently, the UK police are making an average of more than 30 arrests/ day for "offences related to online communications."

Are you fucking kidding me? No offense but it's not a very big country, I can't imagine there are 30 arrest-worthy tweets in a day.

Not to mention that there are undoubtedly better uses of their time than that.

by Anonymousreply 160September 4, 2025 3:12 PM

R157

I did not see your NIH or CDC or NCHS link etc all I see is your opinion,

Every MtF trans I have known has been a formerly gay man or boy. But then I may not have serious knowledge, Despite my previous professional work.

And all the MtF trans I have known were fairly effeminate men before they wore dresses,

I think this trans is a small issue made into a giant issue. Why should anyone care if a man wants to pretend to be a female or wear a dress? It does not impact me in any way.

And no straight person has ever once gone off on me about trans people. For that I come to the DL.

by Anonymousreply 161September 4, 2025 4:51 PM

You're talking rubbish, r150. Not permitting biological men (i.e. transwomen) to use women's single-sex facilities or compete in women's sports is not denying "trans" people the right to exist. Trans-identified people can have whatever subjective opinions they like about themselves, but they are not the opposite sex and the rest of us shouldn't be forced to act as though they are.

As for trans people and their right to exist, the people who are actually denying trans-identified people's true existence are the trans themselves and their handmaidens such as yourself. Trans are the ones who are attempting to convert their physical existence from its reality into something else.

by Anonymousreply 162September 4, 2025 5:03 PM

[quote] I think this trans is a small issue made into a giant issue. Why should anyone care if a man wants to pretend to be a female or wear a dress? It does not impact me in any way.

It’s only an issue when bio men are allowed in women’s spaces like restrooms and locker rooms, play on women’s sports teams, or aggressively try to humiliate or cause harm to anyone who doesn’t refer to them as female.
