It's too bad Tab never found the right girl!

Hunter brings new meaning to alt-Tab Out.

I always thought Mr. Ford was light in the loafers himself. He knew Tab was gay and was trying to put him on the spot.

Bitch.

Does Tab turn red when they start talking about girls or am I imagining?

by Anonymousreply 3September 1, 2025 3:31 PM

R3, I noticed that, too

I need someone to explain the appeal of Tennesee Ernie Ford. I remember him from Mayberry with Teencie and Weencie, plus numerous appearances on variety shows of the day. His name bugged me. Bugged me even more when Carol Burnett called, "Tennesee Ernie?!"

Who the fuck was he?

Gurl, you're gonna get it now.

R2 I thought so too when he was on I Love Lucy. It was like "Cousin Lucy" was code for fag hag.

R5, he was a popular C&W singer who scored a #1 crossover hit with "Sixteen Tons," which topped both the Country music charts and the Pop charts for several weeks in 1955. He also hosted a popular radio show in Los Angeles, a local TV show, "Hometown Jamboree," and a nationally broadcast quiz show, "College of Musical Knowledge" on NBC.

His wild hillbilly rube act, apparently, was considered funny back in the day. But he also had a rich baritone singing voice, which appealed to many.

He had his own NATIONAL network variety show that ran for 5 seasons.

A rich baritone and a country rube act? Definitely not gay then!

He should have gone cruising for chicks with Richard Chamberlain

IIRC, around that time, Tab was seriously involved with a French actress (Etchika Choureau, his "Lafayette Escadrille" costar) and almost married her.

R12 - and you believe that?

by Anonymousreply 13September 1, 2025 8:11 PM

He discusses it in his biography, which is very frank, so why would I doubt it?

by Anonymousreply 14September 1, 2025 8:19 PM

His biography leaves a lot of stuff out
