If the engineers in Stuttgart says it’s OK then it must be OK. German cars used to not have cup holders because the engineers thought drinking a beverage while driving was too distracting.

When these become mainstream (and indeed they will), insurance rates will remain competitive due to the decrease in overall accidents. Similarly, those without self driving autos will find their rates sky-rocketting forcing an even more accelerated transition to a driverless world.

The future is fastly gaining steam!!

So - didn't really get to see the car - just saw a guy not driving and doing other shit that he really shouldn't be doing. The driverless model isn't 100% risk-free. It can glitch.

What they don't show is a spot with someone on the road who has hacked into the system and wi-fi and takes over the car and wildly accelerates it and whips it in and out of lanes without the driver being able to do anything.

That's just as possible as eating a burger with automated driving.

R3 The propulsion and controls of the car aren’t link to WiFi. Just the entrainment systems, and many current smart cars that WiFi is from your phone. The propulsion, acceleration and brakes are all self contained and not on a network.

Worst part of this 'commercial' - people already do all of these things in manual cars.

Mercedes is operating at Level 3 autonomy, the first automaker to do so.

We never see the putside of the car. Assume it looks like evrything else.

Why can’t all cars look like a 1962 Corvette?
