Man, he was sweet!
Randy Meisner was a brilliant musician

OP, we always include some sort of reference link in posts such as this.
More imporantly, NO, he was not brilliant. He was partially responsible for the ear-bleed-inducing dreck "Take It to the Limit."

He tried to stand up to the cruel thuggery of Henley and Frey but was simply too decent a guy to do much there. Left the Eagles early but did ok with royalties. Wife had some kind of horrible accident at home when she accidentally blew her own head off with a shotgun - ? Randy was already in the grip of the dementia that killed him, by then.

His solo album from 1980 has some bangers.
My favorite is Deep Inside My Heart - with Kim Carnes lending vocals.

This was the lead single from the 1980 solo LP.

He initially was with Rick Nelson & the Stone Canyon Band, and later with Poco, and then with The Eagles, and later leaving to go solo, and he also did offshoot bands like Black Tie, with Jimmy Griffin and Billy Swan . He was my favorite singer of the Eagles, and I have two of his solo albums. It's a shame he became an alcoholic later on.

Meisner was replaced by Timothy B Schmit twice: the first time when he left Poco in 1969, then in 1977 when he left the Eagles.
