I've sold a few things there. The people I dealt with were very nice.

For instance:

I listed an item brand new in box for $80 -- same exact item sells on Amazon right now for $350. First question people ask is "will you take $40?"

Another item clearly states it is pickup only. "I really want this! Can you deliver it to Rockland County?" (about an hour away)

I've sold a number of things there but you have to deal with a LOT of trolls / fake profiles before you find that one serious buyer.

I did sell two items in my two years there, but what happened more often was that people would be interested, agree to a price, make a firm date to come pick up the stuff, and then never show up or write again. I'm not sure that's crazy, but it's definitely rude.

I use Marketplace all the time...mostly to pick things up for free or to buy.

When it comes to selling, it can suck hard. Flaky or inconsiderate people.

And I am neither of those things when I buy things or pick up for free.

I sold an MSI Raider laptop with an NVIDIA GTX 4090 for $1,500 just a few weeks ago. That was a 2.5 year old laptop so I was thrilled that I found someone who wanted to buy it. First experience with Facebook Marketplace and I will return the next time I have something of value to offload.

If you take Zelle, make sure you get their info, and send them an invoice. Scammers want you (seller) to give them your info, then they send a paid receipt that looks legit but isn't.
