The 2000 movie The Beach by Danny Boyle starring Leonardo DiCaprio. It only has a 21% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. What???? I watched it again recently and I think it's fantastic. Young, beautiful Leo is at his best accompanied by young and beautiful Virginie LeDoyen and Guillaume Canet. Even Tilda Swinton is attractive here and I love her character. The scenery is incredible, there's a terrifying and gruesome shark attack and the consequences one of its victims faces when he's seriously injured but refuses to die like his best friend. The movie has a great lesson about human nature. We can't create utopias because we are imperfect, greedy and selfish beings and those utopias eventually fall apart. That's what I understood from it. I don't get the hate the critics had for this movie. Beautiful people in paradise who fight and have hot sex. What's not to love? How can a turd like Everything Everywhere All At Once win the Oscar for Best Picture and this brilliant movie gets shit on? It's fun, it's entertaining, it's never boring and you all need to watch it if you haven't.
What other disgustingly underrated movies have you seen?
