Great -- hedonism, drugs, sodomy. This is just the kind of propaganda the right-wing zealots need to send us to the crematoriums. Gays are supposed to be closeted, self-loathing and servile.

lol, I lived this lifestyle for about six months in the early aughts (Hi Junior and all the old discos) and I can tell you that it is 100% unsustainable. I partied pretty consistently with a core group of about 35 guys for a short period (my husband bailed pretty quickly once we saw how dark it was,) and of those guys that stuck with it and went deeper into the scene, probably 20 of them ended up dying of overdose or suicide or AIDS. One threw himself out of a 20 story window in midtown high on meth after his boyfriend dumped him. Another also tried to jump out a window after he was arrested for hiding ecstasy pills on his flights from Germany (he was a flight attendant) but only managed to break every bone in his body since he jumped from the fifth floor. A year later I heard he was back on the dance floor, high as fuck. Another was arrested for raping a 15 year old boy on video with four others, went to prison, and when he got out died of meningitis that was going around amongst gay men at the time. Another was on the cover of the Post for going pedo. He died in prison before the trial. Those that didn’t die lost major jobs including medical teaching positions at top ranked universities, medical practices they had started (this guy was also thrown out of the country and lost his medical license,) amongst many other horrors. The drugs were basically the same, G, K, ecstasy, meth, and coke to a lesser extent. Unprotected sex was rampant, and there was no Prep. No one used condoms. All that was just the tip of the iceberg.

This article and these kids are bland vanilla by comparison.

The constant sex is driven by the drugs, R12. It doesn’t exist without it.

The sex was the least interesting part of the article… my own life surpassed the tales told there, and yes, I know how to use Sniffies today. No news there.

The drug use descriptions were however very eye opening to me. Wow.
