OK. This song, "Love Me Not", finally won me over, and not just me, it's Top 5 on Billboard Hot 100. I used to just hum and tap my feet when I heard it. Two weeks ago, I was at the gym doing the choreo, whipping my (non-existent) hair and sliding up and down the wall seductively. Refreshing to hear a cool song without profanity or vulgar sexual innuendo. I downloaded the whole CD and it's growing on me.
I like it - finally a melody. I'm so sick of the low-instrumentation, low-vibe songs stolen from Drake's mumble rap crap.
They have purposefully removed beats and sounds over the years to where it just sounds like a 1980s Casio playback on repeat.

I don't know any of her songs other than this one.
The song's fine, although her voice is a bit nasally and whiney.
I was surprised to see she's African American, since the song has a very retro "white girl" sound to it.

She made a calculated move to make this LP more "accessible." She comes from a solid Solange-esque alternative R&B background but luckily her fanbase is sticking with her for the ride. She's not new, she's been at it since her teenage years.
