He was a teen heartthrob, but did he have lasting appeal?

The center part could only be in style for so long

I heard groupies would show up at his house and he'd stick his cock through the bars of the front gate for them to suck. Kind of depraved and hot.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 29, 2025 3:02 AM |
Never hot.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 29, 2025 4:36 AM |
I watched it first run. He was a fun character but never sexy to me. He even had a bit of a belly in his teens.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 29, 2025 4:44 AM |
…
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 29, 2025 4:46 AM |
He was neither sexy nor hot nor anything. He just looked like a limp noodle to me.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 29, 2025 4:55 AM |
He looked Asian like Valerie Bertinelli.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 29, 2025 4:58 AM |
Never appealing. Had that skeezy look passed down from his skeezy looking Dad.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 29, 2025 5:16 AM |
He was hung like Milton Berle!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 29, 2025 5:35 AM |
How many dicks in that mouth?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 29, 2025 5:53 AM |
He was a massive pop star in the UK in the early 70’s. He also had the biggest fan club in history.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 29, 2025 7:36 AM |
Way too girly

I remember hot Cassidy became for a short period of time... I was the perfect age to watch TPF and to buy their first two albums PLUS David's solo effort - was it called "Cherish?"
But seriously, he was just a pop singer, not a major force in rock 'n roll, which what he wanted to be, how he saw himself.
And while the girls screamed for him, his efforts to be seen as hot and sexy and bad boy-ish may have shocked when first published in Rolling Stone were, as R10 commented, sleazy. There's a barely-legal gay porn quality to them - ick.
His half-brothers definitely benefitted from Shirley's genes. They're bigger, buffer, (well-endowed), talented, and for some reason, much more grounded.

Didn't he die pretty much broke? Same with Davy Jones. Too many marriages and divorces.
Not appealing as an adult. He had a very short window of appeal during his early/mid 20s.

I actually believed Cassidy's claim that he and John Lennon once spent a boozy, marijuana-baked evening singing and playing the guitar.
It's just odd and random enough to have the ring of credibility.

David Cassidy spiraled into addiction very publicly and eventually died from it.
He had a great pop voice and the PF music was produced and performed by the best studio musicians in L.A.
His father was jealous of his fame and was cruel to him. That fiery death had some karma attached.
He died broke and was mean to his daughter. And I loved Bobby Sherman who was way cuter.

So did I. His ass was tight.

R17, that was during Lennon’s May Pang phase when he was drunk all day, getting into fist fights etc. Lennon probably didn’t know who David Cassidy was.

Many years ago I worked at a theme park when the Partridge Family came to film at the park. I was chosen to be one of the hs employees who was sort of a gopher for the production crew and talent, since we knew where everything was. So, I got to speak with some of the cast members, although not David, who was kept pretty much secluded. The one impression I had was that he was tiny ( I mean really tiny) and very, very thin. I thought that , if he had as big a dick as everyone said, it must have drained all the blood from his body when he got hard. He even had a little teen girl serve as a body double, since he was afraid of coasters. As a side note - one of the employees got fired for trying to put the moves on Susan Dey.

He was a dwarf and never hot, IMO

I believe the rumors of his father Jack Cassidy being jealous of his fame.
Caught an early 1970s episode of To Tell The Truth a while back with Jack on the panel and the host mentioned David's mega success, girls screaming, etc. and Jack wasn't exactly thrilled to discuss the subject and pretty much shut it down.

Shaun Cassidy must have had a Geffen-style promoter he was sharing his ginormous dick with in the late 70s/early 80s.....nothing else explains his stardom at the time with his tepid ass music and weak acting in The Hardy Boys.
(He's earned some respect since, but I'm talking about his start in the business.)

Who said he had a big dick, R22? Your high school phys ed teacher?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 29, 2025 3:10 PM |
^^^ all of the Cassidy men had huge cocks, it has been well documented over the years. Unfortunately we don’t have any photographic evedince.

I recall he was very bitter about his fall from fame. I remember him on Celebrity Apprentice (I know I know), and he was almost pathetic, getting bullied by Richard Hatch. He was voted off early and it was just uncomfortable watching him try to compete.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 30, 2025 5:33 AM |
I have absolutely nothing to say on this matter.

He appeared at Market Days in Chicago a few years before he died and he got totally wasted at Sidetrack and had to be carried out. I think he enjoyed boys as well as girls
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 31, 2025 7:05 AM |
He was one of those conventionally handsome 70s idols like Burt Reynolds and Tom Selleck that I certainly wouldn't have kicked out of bed for eating crackers but didn't drive me mad with desire. Plus I was an Anglophile and more into "serious" actors than pop stars. Simon Ward and Michael York and Robert Powell were my dish.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 31, 2025 12:37 PM |
Yes, he was reputed to have a big dick, but something I read a long time ago said that it was long and *thin*, not overall big. To me, that's very different.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 31, 2025 2:32 PM |
Conventionally handsome, R42? More like a pretty girl midget.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 31, 2025 3:24 PM |
I never found him particularly hot, but he was a solid comedic actor on The Partridge Family, especially when playing off Danny Bonaduce, and he had a terrific singing voice (which they sped up to make him sound younger on most of the PF records).
I wish he’d had a better career after the sitcom ended.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 31, 2025 3:43 PM |
It was step mom Shirley Jones that confirmed the big dick stuff.
Like Betty White she was nothing like her on screen self.

Many years ago I was working in a casting office in New York. They were seeing actors for a supporting role for a detective series that never took off. There were about 5 guys waiting to go in and read, mostly NY stage actors, some recognizable. Cassidy was among them waiting to read. This was in the late 80s.
I remembered being a 9yr old Partridge Family fan and his picture on the cover of every Teen magazine. Like 1972, he was the number 1 most famous teen idol at the time, He couldn't walk the streets without being mobbed by fans.
Now he was just waiting to read for a part like any other NY actor. It was kind of surreal. .

R46, that was about her boys with Jack Cassidy, not David.
