August 28, 1978 - Donna Summer releases her double album "Live and More" which would include three sides of her recently recorded concert at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on June 17, 1978 and one studio side of 'MacArthur Park Suite', which is a medley of three songs including the main song "MacArthur Park". The album spun off her first #1 single, 'MacArthur Park" and the #4 hit "Heaven Knows".
This was Summer's second double-LP, and her first #1 LP. She was making history with this album because the next two consecutive albums were also double-LPs and also went to #1. She made music history by scoring three consecutive #1 double albums within fifteen months, the only artist to have that distinction.
As a side note, 50 years ago yesterday, Summer released the album "Love to Love You Baby" which introduced her to the American music scene, with this #29 album and the #2 single with the title track.
