Who did you go to prom with?

Did you get any?

by Anonymousreply 33August 31, 2025 5:31 PM

I skipped prom. No boyfriend, no fake girlfriend. I didn't see the point.

by Anonymousreply 1August 28, 2025 9:15 PM

Three of my gay classmates and I got a hotel room, drank, and had a foursome . It was great.

by Anonymousreply 2August 28, 2025 9:19 PM

Since the powers that be at my evangelical Mennonite private school thought dancing was and is verboten, I thankfully never had to skip prom. Win/Win!

by Anonymousreply 3August 28, 2025 9:26 PM

With a group of classmates. I never even wanted to go. Never had interest in anyone at that age, male or female. I just wanted to be left alone. I’m still that way usually.

Went with a chick I didn't want to go with. Thankfully she was a Mormon chick so there were no expectations afterwards. I was terribly sick during it and snot was dripping out of my nose. Meanwhile she wanted to get pictures and that was about. I remember nothing about the event itself. Just the horror of her dragging me to get pictures while my nose is dripping and I'm unable to wipe it away. Nightmare.

I went to a boys catholic school and ended up going to my prom and also three other catholic girls school proms. I didn’t have a steady girlfriend …UNBELIEVABLY. Can’t really remember the girls’ names. But they were all similar. We always doubled with another couple and did a dinner out and an after party following the dance. Sometimes they even extended to a breakfast party afterwards.

I always hated the cringy slow dancing. And I never made out more than obligatory kissing. Of course the whole time I was imagining making out with the other guy in our foursome, alas did not happen. I had a reputation as being a gentleman and a good guy, aka non threatening.

I should have bought a tux rather than all those rentals.

by Anonymousreply 6August 28, 2025 10:04 PM

I was out. I went with my best friend.

by Anonymousreply 7August 28, 2025 10:09 PM

My brother.

Yes.

by Anonymousreply 8August 28, 2025 10:11 PM

My boyfriend at the time got set up with the sister of an acquaintance for her prom. Afterwards, she attacked him in her basement, grabbed his dick, and started kissing him. Well, he feigned illness ( too much to drink), graciously gave his regrets and left, then called me and told me all about it. He told me he got hard until she started kissing him which repelled him and he went soft right away. That's when he made up the "too much to drink" excuse.

My Modder and my soot case

by Anonymousreply 10August 28, 2025 10:35 PM

I also went to a religious school that disapproved of dancing, so no prom.

by Anonymousreply 11August 28, 2025 11:31 PM

It's not who you go with, OP. It's who takes you home

by Anonymousreply 12August 29, 2025 12:57 AM

A majorette. Never saw her afterward. Then dated Queen of the State Fair. Never saw her afterward. Then went off to college.

by Anonymousreply 13August 29, 2025 1:22 AM

Went with the most popular girl in the senior class, as friends. Dinner at a great restaurant. Then the Prom with a fun local band. Then an after party. And then a breakfast. It was fun but not the greatest night. By then I had a fake ID and was going to see bands at the college bars in town and smoking weed. Parading around in black tie with dates and chaperones at a high school Prom by then was fun but mostly just right of passage.

by Anonymousreply 14August 29, 2025 1:29 AM

I went with a slutty plump girl named Lee. Huge tits. She looked nice. Was happy that I liked slow dancing. She brought a bottle of vodka.I had weed and hash. We got wasted. We fucked.

She's a facebook friend

by Anonymousreply 15August 29, 2025 1:37 AM

I went with the sister of an girl I worked with who was a few years older than me. The girl and her other sister were very pretty. I took the ugly one to the prom. We weren't really friends in HS but our circles overlapped a bit. Of course, nothing happened. Sadly, she died way too young.

by Anonymousreply 16August 29, 2025 1:43 AM

Lee became a nursing administrator. Retired now. Lovely woman. We graduated 1977. I took her to see Carrie a few months before.

by Anonymousreply 17August 29, 2025 2:11 AM

I skipped it, knew I was probably gay, didn't want to play some fake game. I couldn't care less. Honestly, when my sister found out she was devastated "you cant skip senior prom!" not getting I was about to come out. Her hetero right of passage kicked in, she went so far as to make sure I got out to the movies so I would not be as devastated as she imagined in her mind.

by Anonymousreply 18August 29, 2025 2:18 AM

R15, are you a lady?

by Anonymousreply 19August 29, 2025 2:37 AM

No r19. Im a gay man. But I can appreciate beauty and sexuality in women. And when I was young just saying the word "naked" got me aroused. Why wouldn't I try it out?

by Anonymousreply 20August 29, 2025 3:30 AM

You sound bi R20 not gay. I was young and gay just like you and NEVER not in a MILLION years would I want to "try it out" with a woman.

by Anonymousreply 21August 29, 2025 3:40 AM

R21, you weren't curious? You didn't want to try it out just to see if you could do it?

by Anonymousreply 22August 29, 2025 3:45 AM

I went with a violinist that I had worked with all through high school. It was basically just "attending with a friend". Neither of us had any expectations. Also took place in an era of very bad clothing choices. I'm so sorry that my prom pictures "accidentally" ended up in the wastepaper basket........

by Anonymousreply 23August 29, 2025 4:24 AM

R22, NO I was not curious what fishy pussy was like. I am not fascinated by women's breasts either. That's why I said you are most likely BI even if you claim to be gay now.

by Anonymousreply 24August 30, 2025 12:52 AM

What if you like breasts but not vagina?

by Anonymousreply 25August 30, 2025 1:25 AM

R20, similar. I had a girlfriend my junior and senior year. She was 2 years younger than me and extremely sheltered with over protective parents. We didn’t do much more than kiss in the beginning, then she started giving me hand jobs and eventually blow jobs and would let me look at her tits. She really was beautiful and I appreciated that. I did love her but wasn’t sexually attracted to her, just wanted to get off whenever I could.

I ended up breaking up with her shortly after prom and my graduation. She had a strict curfew and even after the prom I had to have her home as soon as it was over. If we went to a movie we would have to be home an hour after it ended. It was becoming a drag. I had a summer job plus a lawn mowing business, I wanted to hang out with my friends, and go off to college with a clean breakup. She was devastated and I felt really bad.

Later in college I was able to affirm that I am 100% without question as gay as can be. I can still appreciate a woman aesthetically, especially if she is beautiful, has her own style, and smells really nice with just the faintest hint of perfume. But I have no interest in having sex with one.

by Anonymousreply 26August 30, 2025 1:31 AM

How did R24 type that with his hands on his hips?

by Anonymousreply 27August 31, 2025 2:36 PM

I had no interest whatsoever in going, and anyways, by then I was working full-time and it would have been a pain to try to get time off.

by Anonymousreply 28August 31, 2025 2:46 PM

Me? Go to the prom? Never!

First of all, I would have had to wear a dress, which I hadn't done since my mother made me in 7th grade. Secondly, I wasn't about to participate in a heterosexual rite of passage (which is how I thought if it even then) that made me sick just to think about. Third, there was no male I would have gone with, and back in the 70s, no one was encouraging gay or lesbian couples to go to the prom. Of course, no guy asked me either, because everyone at school knew I was a lesbian. As I've said here many times, I was out in 9th grade (1972), and I've been out virtually everywhere ever since.

You're welcome.

by Anonymousreply 29August 31, 2025 2:48 PM

R29, did you tell all the boys in your class NOW, so that you didn't have to tell them LATER???!!!!

by Anonymousreply 30August 31, 2025 4:06 PM

Went with a good friend of mine. We went to Ed Debevics (remember that?) before the dance.

I won Prom King, which was fun. But I didn't take any of it seriously, unlike the two jocks and three cheerleaders who were also nominated. I think that's why I won. I ran away with the anti-Prom King vote.

by Anonymousreply 31August 31, 2025 4:24 PM

I didn't have to, R30. Perhaps you don't remember, but the rumor mill in high school does a great job of informing everyone about everything.

All I had to do was try to get a couple of the girls in my class to kiss me.

by Anonymousreply 32August 31, 2025 4:42 PM

I went to three proms (sophomore, junior, senior years.) Two with people I was dating, one with a friend. All were pretty uneventful.

I actually have a recurring dream that I’m in high school and decide to sit out the prom. No idea what that means.
