Why did nurses stop wearing those hats?

I guess it makes sense why they switched to scrubs from those starched white uniforms, that must have been a disaster in the ER and Trauma centers, but the hats were kinda cool.

Each nursing school had its own hat. I know they still were wearing them in the early 80s. Then came the “everyone in healthcare wears scrubs” thing came in.
