OTC hearing aids

I have some hgearing loss, but when i went to an audiologist this last spring he said I'm not needing prescription hearing aids yet.

I've been thinking about getting OTC amplifiers... but will this make my hearing worse?

I tried those when I had a case of blocked ears that lasted for a few months. They were the kind you get on Amazon so not high quality. Oh boy, they were bad. At best staticky and loud and everything equally amplified. At worst (most of the time), even tilting your head slightly caused a whistling noise.

Get an old fashioned ear trumpet to use until you need a real hearing aid prescription.
