A gritty medical drama about a dying hospital and its staff. It's really good and I only heard about it yesterday. It's on HBO and so far 85% of the characters are hot. Starring Clive Owen and directed by Stephen Soderberg. It's like a good Gilded Age
Did Datalounge like The Knick? It's 10 years old, but takes place in 1900 NYC

I’ve never heard of it but I’ve been dying to see a period medical drama.

One of my favorite shows ever. Soderbergh does a beautiful job shooting it and the cast is amazing. Incredible period details.

Loved it! Felt so authentic, such a shame that planned revival never happened.
Had the biggest crush on Michael Angarano after seeing his taut toosh on this show. The proto-Nazi doctor (Eric Johnson) and the two leads were of course so handsome as well. You won't regret watching it.

I remember hearing about it at the time -- wasn't this Soderbergh's first project after he "gave up" directing theatrical films? In any case, I agree with R2 -- it's terrific. And the "a good GILDED AGE" comparison is apt, since it's stuffed with theater actors: Tony winners Michael Cerveris, Jefferson Mays, Maryann Plunkett, Stephen Spinella and Frank Wood . . . plus Michael Berresse . . . Mary Birdsong . . . Jarlath Conroy . . . Michael Cumpsty . . . Johanna Day . . . Colman Domingo . . . John Treacy Egan . . . Linda Emond . . . Melissa Errico . . . Cheryl Freeman . . . Andy Grotelueschen . . . Brian Tyree Henry . . . André Holland . . . Brian Kerwin . . . Peter Maloney . . . David Pittu . . . Andrew Rannells . . . Anthony Rapp . . . Reg Rogers . . . Juliet Rylance . . . Clarke Thorell . . . and Frederick Weller.
And I agree with R3 -- Angarano (late of WILL & GRACE) is adorable on this.

if you care about history then it was garbage.

As if anyone on DL would ever watch something so new.

Infinitely better and more intelligent than THE GILDED AGE. Andre Holland is phenomenal.

I'm regretting my decision to watch an entire season yesterday because now there's only one left. It's so damn good

Thanks for letting me know about this show, OP. I’m now 4 episodes in and am loving it.

It was too graphic. I couldn’t do it.

The very first episode has a catholic nun in a protestant church attending a funeral in 1900... so that's when I knew the writers were stupid but I stuck with it. The season ends with a promise that everything we just resolved will be repeated in season 2 (YAY! he kicked his cocaine addiction...using HEROIN!!) I didn't make it though season 2 and I believe there was a plan to make season 3 a reboot taking place in the 1940s.

We LOVED it. There were threads.

"History" has a very flexible meaning depending on who is using the term. "The Knick" was pretty faithful to the time period.

I totally loved it, though I kept getting distracted by how much Bono's daughter looked like a female Bono, which made her sex scenes with Clive Owen interesting....

When watching I would always end up calling my coke dealer.
