Cracker Barrel admits it 'could've done a better job' after new logo backlash

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store on Monday issued a statement responding to the backlash it faced last week over its rebranding and new logo.

Users on social media were quick to criticize the new logo, describing it as "generic," "soulless" and "bland."

"We could've done a better job sharing who we are and who we'll always be," the restaurant chain said.

They should have gotten rid of the cracker and kept the barrel.

by Anonymousreply 1August 26, 2025 1:51 AM

I would’ve gone with “The Barrel Crack’d”!

by Anonymousreply 2August 26, 2025 1:54 AM

The rebrand was stupid. The people who eat at cracker barrel do not like change

by Anonymousreply 3August 26, 2025 1:55 AM

The old decor sure wasn't to my taste but I can understand the appeal. Fans of the place saw it as familiar, warm, cosy.

However, the new decor is just all wrong. It looks like it was decorated by IKEA.

by Anonymousreply 4August 26, 2025 1:56 AM

The backlash over the new "wake" logo is complete stupidity.

Now WAKE means anything a MAGAT doesn't like.

Expensive eggs are WAKE. A toilet that doesn't flush is WAKE. A big tornado that hits my 12 foot wide mobile home and tosses it into the air is WAKE. My Chevrolet is WAKE, it won't start. My wife is WAKE. She won't suck my cock. This food at Cracker Barrell is really awful, really. Horrible Tastes like shit.

Must be WOKE

by Anonymousreply 5August 26, 2025 2:11 AM

If you waste even two seconds of your life being upset about this, GO FUCK YOURSELF.

The world is burning. The middle class is gone. The president is a fat fucking criminal. Civil society is collapsing. Oreos taste like shit now. Nobody gives a goddamn about a sign outside a chain restaurant.

Seriously, every last motherfucking one of you. IT. IS. A. LOGO.

by Anonymousreply 6August 26, 2025 2:20 AM

Can someone post a link to the new decor? The logo looks like a downmarket Denny's.

by Anonymousreply 7August 26, 2025 2:23 AM

Rebranded name

Barrel of Deplorables

by Anonymousreply 8August 26, 2025 3:02 AM

I can’t believe people care about this.

by Anonymousreply 9August 26, 2025 3:18 AM

How exactly is the new logo “woke”?

Some are people need a life

by Anonymousreply 10August 26, 2025 3:32 AM

It just looks corporate.

by Anonymousreply 11August 26, 2025 3:34 AM

r10 Just theorizing without any opinion on the matter: Showing an arguably smirking white rustic might have been identified as off-putting to some by the corporation focus group, so [italic]not[/italic] including him would be a gesture towards inclusiveness and sensitivity (I'm trying to channel focus groups and their phraseology).

When someone constantly bitches about "woke" this and "woke" that, you are looking at someone with way too much time on their hands.

Nobody on the left uses the word woke.

Also included in this is that Steak n Shake has lost its mind and gone full magat in a transparent attempt to gin up business. Hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 26August 26, 2025 9:40 AM

R26, a company understanding who its customers are, unlike Cracker Barrel, is a positive thing for them.

by Anonymousreply 27August 26, 2025 11:50 AM

R3: Their clientele is literally dying off and their sales haven't grown in years. Much of their competition is similarly geriatric, like cafeteria chains that used to be popular in the South and are now dying out themselves.

by Anonymousreply 28August 26, 2025 11:54 AM

R27 I don’t think S n S’s clientele was partisan, but it will be now.

by Anonymousreply 29August 26, 2025 2:36 PM

Good point. What are cafeteria chains? I have never heard of them before @R28

by Anonymousreply 30August 26, 2025 2:41 PM

What's going on at Steak N Shake? I used to go there as a kid when I visited my family. Great burgers and shakes - what are they up to?

by Anonymousreply 31August 26, 2025 2:43 PM

R30: Do you ever travel? Cafeterias chains used to exist all over the country in the late 20th century. They still do in the South.

I love what they're doing.

"We have made a commitment to remove seed oils from our restaurants. We are working with our various suppliers to achieve this goal. Some changes, such as switching to the use of butter, will be implemented quickly. Others will take more time, such as altering the recipe of our buns, which contain seed oils. Our fries, onion rings and chicken tenders are now cooked in 100% beef tallow in our restaurants. The beef tallow has no additives, preservatives, or chemicals. However, we are just beginning since manufacturers are currently par-frying these products with vegetable oil prior to freezing and shipping them to us. Making frying oil tallow again was just our first step. In the spirit of transparency, we will continue to update you as we pass important milestones on our journey."

"Updates On March 13, 2025, we announced that as of April 2, we will begin using 100% Grade A Wisconsin butter, sourced from a family farm, to replace the current buttery blend, which contains seed oils. The buttery blend is currently used on select burgers and sandwiches. This change will be made in all of our restaurants."

by Anonymousreply 36August 26, 2025 3:23 PM

Yes I but not in the south @R32

by Anonymousreply 37August 26, 2025 3:29 PM

It really cannot be stressed enough that the biggest, most overly sensitive snowflakes in the entire world are white conservative Christians. The persecution complex that they possess at a baseline is outrageous in relation to the level of privilege and entitlement that they enjoy at all times.

They routinely lose their shit over LOGOS CHANGING. Think about how charmed one's life must be in 2025 to have outrage to spare over the signage at your local chain restaurant changing designs. They live in a constant state of mass hysteria.

Complete fucking lunatics, every last one, and they're running the asylum.

by Anonymousreply 38August 26, 2025 3:35 PM

I just checked and discovered that Gray Brothers, which was well known in the Indianapolis area as a famous sit-down cafeteria, closed for business in early June! I guess their prices got a bit high. Shame, they'd been in business since the 1940s, my great-grandparents loved going there for family dinners.

by Anonymousreply 39August 26, 2025 3:41 PM

I never heard of cafeteria restaurants but now I want to go to one. Are there any in Virginia or North Carolina?

by Anonymousreply 40August 26, 2025 3:45 PM
I never heard of cafeteria restaurants

by Anonymousreply 41August 26, 2025 3:53 PM

They were popular decades ago, most are long gone. My family in Texas used to dine at Furr’s, Wyatt’s, Luby’s and one other place I can’t remember. I was always told to say no to desserts, keep sliding the tray left, because we lived on a tight budget. I also find it hard to believe, did you live a sheltered life?

by Anonymousreply 42August 26, 2025 3:55 PM

Maybe @R42 but I haven’t spent a lot of time in the Midwest or south. Cafeterias aren’t a thing in nyc

You sound a smidge out of touch, dear. It's not 1948 anymore. In most areas of the US these kinds of businesses haven't been seen in several generations, if ever. You might as well be speaking of boarding houses or music halls. Most people alive today haven't any point of reference for these things outside of books or old movies.

by Anonymousreply 48August 26, 2025 6:07 PM

I fondly remember the Black ladies behind the buffet at Morrison's in Central Florida, where I grew up in the 1960s. They wore grey uniforms with white aprons and little white hats. Several of them would wander about the dining room, seeing if customers needed refills by saying, "Mo tea?"
The term "woke" originated in African American culture as a call to be alert to racial and social injustice, with early uses appearing in the 1930s in protest songs like Lead Belly's "Scottsboro Boys". The phrase gained wider traction in the 2000s, notably through Erykah Badu's music, and then exploded into mainstream awareness with the Black Lives Matter movement in 2014, eventually being co-opted by political discourse and turned into a pejorative by some

by Anonymousreply 54August 26, 2025 7:42 PM

by Anonymousreply 67August 27, 2025 1:10 AM
Cracker Barrel said late Tuesday it's returning to its old logo after critics — including President Donald Trump — protested the company's plan to modernize. It was laughable. He went into this rant about Christians not wanting to eat there anymore because of their woke logo.

First of all, Jesus was the OG woke dude. Second, it’s a stupid logo. Would crack whore barrel changing their logo to a swastika make you feel better, you poor, persecuted white boi?

CB used to have biscuits to die for, brought to your table while you were waiting for your food. But, like Panera bread, they changed to outsourcing frozen bread that they just heat up, instead of bakers being employed.

by Anonymousreply 88August 27, 2025 10:22 PM

They're only delaying the inevitable. This was probably a too-quick jump-start in terms of a rebrand. They will eventually have to rebrand to capture the younger generation of customers. For now it's probably wise to keep the status quo, with all the reactionary cultural warring going on in the US right now.

by Anonymousreply 89August 27, 2025 10:27 PM

I want Dylan Mulvaney and Elliot Page to do a series of national Cracker Barrel commercials... and I want to fill a room with all of these famous Maggots and force them all to watch those commercials, and watch the blood pressure in the room skyrocket.

by Anonymousreply 90August 28, 2025 12:12 AM

This country is ridiculous. The problem with CB isn’t the logo or even the stores. It’s that their food is all frozen dreck now. But let MAGA flock their in clogged-artery droves now that they have “won” against “woke.”
