And that that was an inspiration for the film Performance (1968).
Does anyone know anything about this?

No, call her and ask her, why don’t you?

She apparently wrote quite a good autobiography. Maybe it’s in that?

R2, with both men being very much alive I don’t know if that would be the case.
Fox became an evangelical Christian. Wouldn’t he have sued?

R4, he continued to be friends with that wild bunch even after that---it doesn't sound like he was the suing type.

Oh good. That makes me like him all the more even though he produced a son that’s a complete douche bag.
It happens.

Did they all sing “Sister Morphine” while they screwed?

I thought he did that with Anita Pallenberg.

james fox who?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 22, 2025 11:52 PM |
I have no idea who James Fox is , but Jagger's hypersexuality, doing drugs and having sex with men isn't exactly secret, right? At least I learned that here on DL.

I thought Jagger was relatively light in terms of drug use.
Everyone around him was neck deep in it.

Presumably this is one of the experiences that led James to His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ/Nigel Farage.

R12 - He was controlled about it compared to his immediate contemporaries (JFC, Keith and Brian Jones!), but not immune by any stretch of the imagination. Casual use even persisted into the '80s.
Great story from "Life," Keith Richards' autobiography. A totally fucked up Mick in Amsterdam around the time of Tattoo You at 3 or 4 in the morning insisted on seeing "My drummer" and called or had someone call to summon Charlie Watts, who was equally fucked up at the time. Watts showered, dressed (in a suit, IIRC), went Mick's suite and slugged so hard Keith had to hold Mick to keep him from stumbling out of a window. The story was confirmed by Watts. He'd never really partaken of drugs until later and became a heroin addict in middle-age. He was clearly not proud about it.

I first read this as Jamie Fox and died a thousand deaths.

Marianne Faithfulls biography is one of the best. Better than Life by Richards IMO. As Gen X I thought of her as the ex-60s hippie heroin addict - but the book is well written (she was a poet more than a singer) and she had a much fuller life than many know with only a period of heroin. She is honest about Mick being open sexually - though nothing about James Fox (who was gorgeous) and not as the inspiration for Performance (which is a great trippy film - classic picture of late 60s London decadence). One of the my favorite celebrity memoirs - like Haywire of Swinging London with interactions with all the famous 60s London crowd.
