My favorite Batman incarnation is the campy 66-68
Adam West is a hoot, especially during the Batusi.
Frank Gorshin, Cesar Romero and Burgess Meredith are so perfect as Riddler, Joker and Penguin, respectively.
Shout out to Victor Buono as the ever-campy King Tut.
I have a hard time choosing between Julie Newmar or Eartha Kitt as my favorite Catwoman. I think Newmar just has that yowza edge tho.
Are you a fan? This Dark Knight stuff bores me. Bring on the colors and groovy soundtrack.

I've been watching a lot of clips from the show on YouTube. It's so weird and goofy. Batman pauses to teach Robin a lesson every five minutes, while all the various silly devices the villains use on Batman all have giant labels on them to explain them to the audience.
But, damn, Cesar Romero really defined the Joker.

Whaddid you just say Pengy?

I watched it as a kid in the late sixties. It was zany sixties fun, like Rocky and Bullwinkle, Laugh-In, Mad Magazine and Rankin-Bass holiday specials.

I loved Newmar as Catwoman. If an episode came in featuring a non-Newmar Catwoman I was very disappointed.

I loved Eartha Kitt and her purring and growling as Catwoman.
Both she and Julie Newmar were trained dancers, and the feline grace really works as part of their performances.
Julie Newmar and Lee Meriwether are both in their nineties now! RIP to Eartha, though I suspect she wouldn’t go for the resting part.

I wish they'd do a campy Superman version of this show with the Fortress of Solitude being over-labeled like the Batcave.
Superma & Jimmy could be the Dynamic Duo of Metropolis with Supergirl coming in season 3 for a Batgirl season angle.
Luthor, Prankster, J. Wilbur Wolfingham, the 2 different Toymen, Kryptonite Kid/Man, Metallo, Terra-Man, Master Jailer, etc.
It's a shame Leslie Jordan never got to play Mr. Mxyzptlk on tv or in the films.

So many gay boys in the 60s must've been beating their meat to Burt Ward in those green bikini briefs.

Our Roddy McDowall played The Bookworm, a gay-as-blazes villain with a leather trench coat.

As a kid, it all seemed so life and death for real; brilliantly played by the actors.
Julie is the best Catwoman, followed by Meriwether, Pfeiffer, and Hathaway IMHO
Robin, bound and gagged on top of that horse statue by the Mad Hatter had me wanting to be rescued by Batman in the worst/best possible way. (Still.)
As a kid, I swore they went to London for that three parter with Lord Fogg. and Prudence. and Lady Pea Soup.

With eash successive movie, the wit and whimsy has been drained out of the franchise until it is unwatchable.

I loved when Batgirl joined the show.
C’mon gays, you know you dug her rotating wall and that secret compartment that irised open to reveal her motorcycle.

The 60s Batman movie was fun. We saw it several times at the matinee.

Frank Santopadre's new podcast recently did two hours on this incarnation of Batman. He said Aunt Harriet wasn't in the comic books, but had to be added because network executives were nervous about what a bachelor, his "youthful ward," and a butler might get up to otherwise.

The TV show fueled my (light) bondage fetish. I always wanted to play Batman and Robin and get my friends to tie me up.

I think Tallulah Bankhead was a guest villain.
The 1960s British spy series spoofed Batman for one scene. Set in the comic-publishing world, someone was going slashing people. During the ep's climax, Batman-type action music is heard and Steed hits the villain with signs that say "Pow!' and "Splat!" This begins halfway into the attached video URL.

The Riddler, with his visible buplge in those tights, had such a crush on Robin.

Shame they never got Crawford and/or Davis to appear as special guest villainesses.
I guess that would have been 'too gay' even for that show.
