Kim Cattrall was scheduled to be on Pan Am 103, the plane that exploded over Scotland because of a terrorist bomb. At the last minute, she re-booked for a flight later that day because she wanted to go shopping at Harrod's.
This alone makes her an honorary Datalounger.

Wow, that's actually true.

Arise, I anoint you Dame Kim Victoria Cattrall!

She’s always been a comely woman.
Who knew she fucked Pierre Trudeau?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 21, 2025 2:53 PM |
Those fucking terrorists, R8. They almost deprived us of Samantha!
That makes me mad.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 21, 2025 3:06 PM |
Can you imagine if Sandra Bernhard got Samantha instead? I heard she was offered the role but turned it down.

Nice

On MST3K, the naughty, cute robot Crow T Robot was in love with Kim Cattrall. He brought her up all the time. It was one of Crow’s little personality quirks.
The robot was a puppet controlled by Trace Beaulieu. Kim heard about it and reached out to Trace. They became friends.
This story made me love Kim.
Here’s Crow’s love song to Kim:

R13 I can't imagine Sandra Bernhard being hit on by straight men.

She was gorgeous in Bonfire of the Vanities. Her character in the book was supposed to be past her prime but she was 10x hotter than Tom Hanks or Melanie Griffith.

Or the sighted, R16.

She played a psychology student in a Colombo.

I'm not a big fan but you have to admire what she's been able to accomplish.

I don’t remember anything about her at all from The Devil’s Candy, so she must have behaved herself on the set.
Bruce Willis, that’s another matter.

Bernhard was offered Miranda, not Samantha. Although I did learn recently that Kim was not the first Samantha. Another actress was cast, but as far as I know, no one has ever revealed who it was.

From what I’ve gathered from Kristin Davis’s podcast, the actors who were ultimately cast sort of shaped the characters into who they became. Charlotte was barely in Candace Bushnell’s book at all, and Samantha and especially Miranda were different in a lot of ways. So with like Berngatd for Miranda, for instance, they were thinking of making that character more of a comedian, and had she taken the role, the Miranda we know would’ve been much more like Sandra herself.

Thank you, dear gays for all your warm wishes. I accept them with a very full heart, unlike those from that woman in that awful show And Just Mike’s Hat or whatever it’s called. She can go fuck herself.

Lou Thorton was cast as Samantha Jones and they paid her, but then called her and said they had recast after Kim Cattrall accepted. They asked Lou for the money back but she told them she already spent it.

Her episode of "Who Do You Think You Are" was probably the dullest one I've seen. She was trying to track down info on a nasty grandfather. It was pretty obvious from the beginning that he was a piece of work and they should have moved on in her family tree. She's really annoying through the whole thing. I suspect like at least one other that you can like her character, dislike her and think SJP is a nitwit without feeling anything is a disservice.

I found her serious and likeable in WDYTYA.

Me too. She seemed quite unstarry and obviously close to her family. The grandfather’s antics were obviously the mystery to be solved so it’s unsurprising that the episode focused on it.

I'll never forget when Ricky Gervais said regarding SATC 2 while hosting the Golden Globes:
“There were a lot of big films that didn’t get nominated this year—nothing for Sex and the City 2. No, I was sure the Golden Globe for special effects would go to the team that airbrushed that poster. Girls, we know how old you are. I saw one of you in an episode of Bonanza.”
