Data lounge how are you coping with coffee prices?

I've been drinking coffee since I was 10 years old. I have tapered my consumption off over the Last 5 years from 8 cups a day to around 4 to 5 cups currently. I buy the warehouse size ground coffee from Costco usually the Folgers or Maxwell House brands. Right now each of those runs about $25 , a year ago they were averaging around 10 to 15. So now coffee has become a major expense item in my budget.

I've experimented with some ways to stretch out my supply, going from using five scoops for five cups to now using two scoops of ground coffee with two tablespoons of generic store brand instant coffee for five cups and this seems to be working okay .

I need my daily coffee without it the world is not right and would act like a questionable traveler on a Spirit Airlines flight! How are you coping with the price increase?

Try the Kirkland brand coffee. Far superior to Folgers in flavor.

I’m cradling my mug and thinking of happier times.

Break your caffeine addiction by substituting brown ditch water.

I got an automatic espresso maker from my parents last christmas. Grinds, tamps and makes my double shot every morning. I buy my Lavazza beans off Amazon, currently 14 bucks for a 2,2 pound bag. Doing just fine, thanks!

By paying.

After parting ways with alcohol, drugs and gambling, dying while holding my cup of strong, caffeinated black coffee, straight-up, is my preferred way to go.

I drink a cup of coffee a day. I grind the beans myself and use a drip coffeemaker. A small case of six regular size bags of Seattle’s Best #3 for $35 each lasts for three months so costs less than $150 a year.

I don’t factor in the price of water or the tablespoon of half and half in each cup, though.

I like Don Pablo! Costcos. But I will say anyone who goes to a Starbucks type place for coffee in the morning is a fool. Throwing money away.

My husband pays for the good stuff and is addicted. We will pay what we have to! Specifically this brand for his morning cup.

I order my coffee from a specialty roaster. I’m going to have to take out a coffee loan.

Prices were already going up due to climate change. Add Trump’s tariffs on Brazil (the largest coffee producer.)

by Anonymousreply 9August 21, 2025 1:34 PM

I have noticed a quarter or so uptick in price. but I've always been a snoop who only gets coffee from a third wave roaster around the corner form me. it's always been pricy

by Anonymousreply 10August 21, 2025 1:59 PM

I stocked up in March.

by Anonymousreply 11August 21, 2025 2:02 PM

I just checked my order history at Sam’s Club where I buy my 32oz bags of whole bean coffee, and mine has gone from $17 two years ago to $22 now. So not sure where the OP gets her dramatic numbers from. It sucks, but I’ll survive.

by Anonymousreply 12August 21, 2025 2:10 PM

I’m down to one cup a day. I stock up when it is BOGO. Yesterday, CFN was up $6.00 (19.99} .

by Anonymousreply 13August 21, 2025 2:41 PM

Never liked coffee and don't get the addiction.

by Anonymousreply 14August 21, 2025 3:50 PM

There's always enough coins on MY dresser to afford a coffee hunty 💅

by Anonymousreply 15August 21, 2025 3:59 PM

Use an old sock (preferably a dirty one) to brew your coffee OP. And reuse the grounds-it only intensifies the flavor!

by Anonymousreply 16August 21, 2025 4:07 PM

I’m down to two cups a day. Sigh.

Lavazza Crema e Gusto is my jam! Subscribe and Save on Amazon. All good here. Ciao!

by Anonymousreply 18August 21, 2025 4:32 PM

I get whatever "better" ground coffee is on sale at my grocery store.

Last two times, that's been Lavazza - $8.99 a bag. I usually drink 2 large cups a day.

by Anonymousreply 19August 21, 2025 4:43 PM

One teacup at a time, in the back of a limo.

by Anonymousreply 20August 21, 2025 4:48 PM

I no longer spit, I swallow.

by Anonymousreply 21August 21, 2025 4:50 PM

I only drink Maxim. Gaw-jus flavah!
