Anybody know this “bon vivant” trustafarian?

Mickey was a great father to him.

A cause of death was not revealed.

Trustafarian dead at 51? Unless it was foul play or an undisclosed medical cause, it was obviously drugs. And if it was either of those other two things, it would be known.

They say everything about him, except that he was gay.
Sounds fishy.

I hope his brother Wayne is ok at this difficult time.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 21, 2025 2:15 PM |
Sad. I hope he was single because the omission of any mention of a partner in the obituary would be a horrible injury to all involved.

I didn't know Mickey Rooney had a son this young.

R1 and R5 and now R7 make me think Larry King is among us. Will Liza join us just after the break?

He had the gayest gayface that ever gayfaced.

The family had him silenced?

The Met board is really letting anyone in these days. He’s not nearly rich or influential enough in social or financial circles to be on it.

According to the obituary linked in the article, his nickname was "Dutch." Donald Trump Jr. went to the same boarding school (but is not listed under alumni-of-note) as Dutch. He lived in Brooklyn Heights, and had a place in the Hamptons that he named "Belle Reve."

*the obituary didn't misspell 'bon vivant' like the post did.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 22, 2025 1:41 PM |
Good catch R18. And yes, "Bob Vivant" is still available as a DL handle.

Where have all the bon vivants gone
Long time passing

And then the killing started.

Ohmygawd.
He must have wanted to get away from his stupid straight family for calling him a "Bob Viviant"!

R16 - looks like a former member. This list is LONG. There are a lot of vanity 'director' positions for wealthy donors.
You can probably buy a spot for a year so you can have it on your resume. You can buy a 'trustee' position at most art organizations.
I'm sure he had tens of millions - and the contribution could have been a family trust donation and he was the person selected among family members.
This isn't so unheard of.
Poor guy - but yes - no cause of death listed and dying on a weekend usually indicates one thing.

DL sleuths get to work! Drugs, autoasphyxiation, a Tim Krüger style “tragic yet simple accident”, suicide, brain aneurism?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 22, 2025 2:10 PM |
R24 - Tim Kruger's death could have been avoided if he had those no-slip daisies on the bottom of the bath tub. When we will ever learn?

Since his family owned an NFL team they probably tried to keep this girlina hidden.

R27 He can run, but he can’t hide!

The plot thickens. The two deaths must be related!!!!

When the articles include
[quote] “I was saddened to hear about the passing of Matthew Rooney. I didn’t know him well, but he was always a kind, familiar face at the ballet — someone who had a special way of making others feel welcome and celebrated,” fashion designer Joshua Kamei said in an Instagram post.
The people who knew him are not talking. Hmmm.

Any murderous Colombian pornies spotted in the area?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 23, 2025 4:19 PM |
Matt Rooney was a friend of a friend at NYU. I didn't know him well, but he seemed remarkably down-to-earth for a trustafarian. One year he gave all his friends a calendar where every month was a (tasteful) beefcake shot of him.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 23, 2025 4:29 PM |
^that’s your definition of “down-to-earth?” Giving his friends a calendar featuring twelve thirsty photos of himself?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 23, 2025 5:18 PM |
Was he found shrink wrapped in the attic of his Hamptons house?
That would raise suspicions.
