Apparently it's a totally unnecessary remake of The War of the Roses. Judging by the trailer, it will probably be sillier, especially with Kate McKinnon and Andy Samburg in the cast. What do we think. Thoughts on the original film welcome also.

The War of the Roses was an exemplary film. Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas were perfectly cast.

Nice link, OP.

I loved Kathleen Turner's VROOM VROOM vehicle. I'm laughing just thinking about it.

What is necessary - to its owner - is to make money off the property. They can’t do that by rereleasing the 1989 version; who would go except us?
There are new generations who never saw the original, Hollywood needs decent stories, this has one… get it?

There is absolutely no reason to follow up on it. It was perfect, just let it stand alone.

I saw a trailer on TV during Big Brother, I think, so nothing to link r3.

Just remember in a relationship when one person is strictly a dog person and the other is strictly a cat person, the future doesn't look bright. Thanks OP, for bringing back memories of that gem of a movie.

This seems like a lot for you, OP. Why don't you go lay down.

Yeah…. No

Why would hot Benedict ever marry ugly Olivia.

Can totally see them as a couple, but the trailer makes this a mustn't see. Think I said in another such thread they'd make great leads in 'Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf', on stage not screen. Sell-out guaranteed.

Off topic (kinda), I just discovered that Olivia Coleman is only 51!
II thought she was in her 60s.

Too many lesbians (closeted and out). I saw the commercial and I thought why would a gay man go see this? I knew DL would eventually make a thread.

I'll be giving this one a pass -for the simple reason that the first film disgusted me. Oh, it was incredibly well-done -superbly acted and directed -but I found the story so distasteful that I was physically ill by the end. And don't "Mary!" me. I don't usually have such a visceral reaction to a film. I just found the ending so horrible - It left me depressed for days. I suppose that is a tribute to Danny DeVito's direction...

I might watch it.
Fuck, these days anything that isn't complete nihilism, dystopia or the seventy-eight reboot of a superhero or space opera film might get my ass in the theater.
