Archive.ph and RemovePaywall.com No Longer Work

I was trying to read an article from the Atlanta Journal Constitution through Archive.ph and then RemovePaywall.com. Guess what? The news organizations have figured out how to block these websites from accessing the text.

It’s all just nonsense.

Any other alternatives?

I just noticed this yesterday, OP. Ugh.

by Anonymousreply 1August 20, 2025 8:07 PM

I just used .ph to post a WaPo article here. I posted the link below.

So I wish I could help you, OP -- but it worked for me.

End of an era.

I was able to archive this AJC story, OP.

I’m trying to read this one and it’s the one that’s not working.

I just read an NYT story that was posted to the NYT website two hours ago.

Stories just don't automatically appear on Archive.ph. Someone has to post the story to the archive and that often takes a little bit of time.

Sometimes it takes a few minutes for stories to appear there. Sometimes hours.

I wonder if it’s because I’m also a NYT subscriber, but I was just able to access it through archive.ph.

I think that's exactly what has confused OP. Phew!

Does this work for you, R5?

R9 read down into the article. The AJC article after the first two paragraphs is there, backwards.

Odd.

by Anonymousreply 10August 20, 2025 8:44 PM

Oops, I didn't read that far, R10! Sorry.

That is really strange.

by Anonymousreply 11August 20, 2025 9:10 PM

I'm not R5 but it worked for me, R9.

by Anonymousreply 12August 20, 2025 9:22 PM

R12 please read the third and fourth paragraph.

[quote] I’m trying to read this one and it’s the one that’s not working.

Why are you trying to read an AJC article about Georgia’s dying counties? That’s kind of niche. I can think of a lot better subjects to read about.

by Anonymousreply 14August 20, 2025 9:36 PM

Reading the AJC was something I did less and less over the time I lived in Atlanta. I would imagine almost any county S of Atlanta is dying.

Archive.ph still works fine for me, except that many news media links now use the *share.google/* format link as in this example

https [bold]share.google/[/bold]jV1E4eM8LQXhn78wc

Archive.ph just grinds away or stalls, unable tondo anything with these. It was a few initially, but now this format is in the majority to my experience.

Now it works...

by Anonymousreply 17August 20, 2025 10:13 PM

R14 because it popped up on my Facebook feed because a friend shared it.
