What song that you remember from youth still evokes great memories?

Summer cruising around in the car, no worries, and life ahead.

Suavecito by Malo

Reminds me of summer at the beach. Not as well known as others, but one of my top 10 all time favorite pop songs. Give it a listen if you're not familiar with it.

But Spanky & Our Gang just popped up above me, and they had great songs too.

Fucking Journey. Fucking Don't Stop Believin'.

Its' a shitty song I hated at the time, but it was played at every Dorm and Frat party during New Student Week in September of 81 and is an indelible part of my memory of that first week away from home.

When I go back for my 40th reunion in October I'm sure I'll hear that fucking song again. But, then again, two of my good college friends didn't live long enough to be subjected to it again.

“Moonlight Feels Right” takes me right back to the beach as an almost-ten-year-old. Always a happy memory.

r7 You ok, sweetie? OP never said he was born in the 80s. He said cruising around in the car during that time. Maybe he was 15. That's still youth.

What a Fool Believes by the Doobie Brothers. My first crush loved this song and I remember he was very excited to play it for me.

[quote]“Moonlight Feels Right” takes me right back to the beach as an almost-ten-year-old.

Quite possibly the only song in pop history with a marimba solo.

My first heavy crush was my co-worker. He was 19, I was 18. He spent the weeks at college and only worked on the weekends.

I remember we scheduled to close together. “Confessions on a Dance Floor” was coming out and they were playing this early before the album came out so it would have been the first week of November 2005.

And we just sat in the back room (which was a mini warehouse) and listened to it and talked.

I think it was the first time I heard the song. I can see his face and feel the air.

This song from Fall 1973 will always remind me of moving my stuff into my dorm freshman year:

Age 14/15… the early ‘80s were taking music in some very new directions and I wanted a front row seat.

Do you hear me? 🎵 Do you care? 🎶 Words, from Missing Persons, album Spring Session M. One of several vinyl purchases worn out so badly that I needed to buy a replacement.

Hmm, not sure if this is a GREAT memory, but my father used to listen to a local R&B oldies station when I was growing up, and certain songs take me back to "simpler times." They were ONLY simpler because I had zero responsibility, but my childhood isn't something I enjoy reliving.

ANYWAY...this Spinner's song and the Black National Anthem always get me sentimental.

This was back when most stations signed off, and that station would always play "Lift Every Voice and Sing" aka the BNA, when signing off.

R28, little known fact, that Spinners song inspired Stevie Nicks to write a new melody and lyrics (“Dreams”) over those two simple chords. The mashup tells the tale…

Glamorous by Fergie. It reminds me of when I was working at Pizza Hut in 2007. There was another gay guy working there and he immediately clocked me as gay. He tried to get me to hook up with him in the walk-in but I was too shy.
