Fuck

by Anonymousreply 26August 19, 2025 3:17 AM

Nope.

by Anonymousreply 1August 18, 2025 7:01 PM

They have complete control over the judiciary, the legislature, and the executive thanks to Trump's tactics. Why mess with the winning formula?

by Anonymousreply 2August 18, 2025 7:02 PM

Doubtful but I am more concerned about my country returning to normal....

by Anonymousreply 3August 18, 2025 7:02 PM

Who's feeling nostalgic about Nimrata and LIl'Marco? I sure ain't. And they are only "normal" Republicans by the now-debased (lack of) standards of MAGA.

And let's be frank: these two wouldn't have even been in the party 60 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 4August 18, 2025 7:44 PM

That’s supposed to look normal? Those two are morons.

by Anonymousreply 5August 18, 2025 7:46 PM

Yeah, the fact that both submitted to the Cult when the time came tells us everything we need to know about "normal" Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 6August 18, 2025 7:49 PM

The republicans were always this way. As long as they were a demographic supermajority they talked up the constitution and democracy (small d) because it was the mechanism by which they exerted control.

The big panic button was when Obama was elected. Purely a corporatist DINO but he was black and that’s all they saw. Demographics and attitudes were shifting, and so representative government and the rule of law were cast aside with little fanfare. They went full dictatorship, full fascism, in the blink of an eye.

by Anonymousreply 7August 18, 2025 8:00 PM

Nothing is going to be normal again. Ever. This pile of shit the Magots have unleashed can't be packed back in the shit bucket.

by Anonymousreply 8August 18, 2025 8:08 PM

That's the same Republican Party lol. You think Nikki Haley and Marco Rubio wouldn't have signed the Big Ugly Bill?

by Anonymousreply 9August 18, 2025 9:01 PM

Pick any time since the 1960s: the Republican Party is consistently loonier than it was ten years before.

They're going to have a tough time finding someone to replace Trump as their insane standard-bearer. I. wouldn't be surprised if, in the 1930's, we see them nominating Corey Feldman for prez.

by Anonymousreply 10August 18, 2025 9:06 PM

"lol"

Oh, dear

by Anonymousreply 11August 18, 2025 9:07 PM

No. Their "brand" is forever tainted for at least two generations' worth.

Just lasting, irreparable damage.

by Anonymousreply 12August 18, 2025 9:10 PM

They've always been this way. At least they aren't hiding it anymore.

by Anonymousreply 13August 18, 2025 9:23 PM

The GOP hasn't been normal since Eisenhower days, and even then, the John Birchers were always around to bump up the GOP crazy as a tik quotient.

by Anonymousreply 14August 18, 2025 9:38 PM

Of course they will return to normal! They will return to normal just as soon as they lose power. Then they will immediately start declaring that everything the Democrats try to do is an abomination against the constitution and the sacred norms that the Republicans themselves would never dream of ignoring.

They will scream treachery when a Democrat president attempts to pass any law at all. They will denounce as Communism the merest suggestion that billionaires should pay a little more tax. They will suddenly be outraged (again) when a Democrat president wears a beige suit. They will (again) discover the importance of they type of civility which means that it is possible to hold hearings for a Democrat president’s Supreme Court nominee only on the 32nd of Neverember in the year following a presidential election.

Fear not, the usual hypocrisy will be resumed as soon as it is expedient. It’s not dead, it merely sleeps.

by Anonymousreply 15August 18, 2025 9:39 PM

Nimrata is a podcaster now. GQP has no use for her, either. And frankly, I'm surprised Little Marco has lasted this long.

by Anonymousreply 16August 18, 2025 9:40 PM

What’s wrong with Marco Rubio. He seems pretty normal to me.

Even under a president Bush or a president Romney, a Latino senator from Florida for Secretary of State would be a pretty normal choice.

by Anonymousreply 17August 18, 2025 9:41 PM

Nope.

We’re forever fucked.

by Anonymousreply 18August 18, 2025 9:42 PM

We have to educate people to inoculate them from all the fake news and conspiracy theories, etc. maybe get some one with the balls to put the teeth back into FCC regulations, and ban outlets like Fox News from spreading lies and misinformation, or find some other way to stop people from voting against their own interests. If we should find our way back into elective office we can't afford to fuck around. We need to set priorities that reset things. Voting Rights, Women's right to choose, Environment, Education. Healthcare. People have no knowledge base. they don't know or understand history, or how government works or why things are done or not done. They do not even know the first thing about the Constitution. We have a lot of rebuilding to do. We can start now. I remember reading history about the "freedom schools." African Americans weren't allowed to learn to read. If they could read they weren't being given the same education as other kids. So Freedom schools were set up in people's homes to educate those who wanted to learn.

by Anonymousreply 19August 18, 2025 9:50 PM

We are so past any little solutions like FCC regulations. It really is a wild west of information and misinformation and disinformation. No regulation is going to make the slightest, tiniest bit of difference right now. We are going to simply have to be relentless and aggressive and treat cunts like cunts and not look to any bureaucratic solutions as if anybody cares what some bitch in a regulatory office or in some "respectable" media outlet tells us. Unfortunately, that is the world we live in, and I'm not sure when, if ever, it will end.

by Anonymousreply 20August 18, 2025 10:04 PM
They will return to normal just as soon as they lose power. Then they will immediately start declaring that everything the Democrats try to do is an abomination against the constitution and the sacred norms that the Republicans themselves would never dream of ignoring.

The difference is that the GOP is now dealing with people who've [italic]never[/italic] known them to be "normal." They didn't grow up with Republicans working with Democrats across aisles. They didn't grow up with Reaganism being the cool norm in the 1980s.

Nope. The GOP has been shit out wholes lives. They currently are shit. And they ALWAYS be shit in our lifetime.

by Anonymousreply 21August 18, 2025 10:28 PM

Once the economy tanks, Trumpism will be over.

The Dems will win the next presidential election (assuming they’re not rigged). The next GOP candidate will, of course, run as “I’m not Trump! I’m so different” just like Trump ran as “Im not Bush! I’m so different”

The GOP keeps rising from the dead.

by Anonymousreply 22August 19, 2025 12:25 AM
will GOP ever return to normal again?

Of course not. The GOP is exactly where it wants to be. It's been heading in this direction since Reagan was elected in 1980.

by Anonymousreply 23August 19, 2025 12:31 AM

R20, laws and regulations are important we need the guardrails back and to make them stronger. And most of all we need CONSEQUENCES when laws and regulations are broken. Not bullshit fines. But real consequences. I hate Trump I hate Republicans. But one thing all the fuckers in Congress are certain of is Consequences and other countries know it too. Trump is a crazy fucker and they know he will do terrible bad things if they fuck with him. Consequences are important. Swift and tough. Waiting three years to attempt to investigate and prosecute Trump for the insurrection was shameful. We also need to look at the whole immunity argument and if necessary amend the fucking Constitution to prevent felons from holding office, or r unning for POTUS.

by Anonymousreply 24August 19, 2025 3:06 AM

Lee Atwater and Paul Weyrich sewed these seeds over fifty years ago. the GOP is precisely the way it is for very carefully planned reasons. they have no ability to be anything else at this point.

by Anonymousreply 25August 19, 2025 3:10 AM

Modern technology, especially the internet has ruined everything. We always had extremists and crackpots. But now they dominate because now they can find one another instantly and get organized and sent garbage out into the ether.
