Anyone here originally from the Baltimore area?

What a run down dump that place was. Glad I left.

Yup. The Maryland state motto is Manly Deeds Womanly Words. The Baltimore City Motto is Manly Bros, Niggardly Hoes.

R1's motto: I'm a semi-literate asshole and I'm damn proud of it.

Parts of the eastern part of city look worse than Berlin or Dresden in 1946. Totally hollowed out by decades of poverty. You can see it from your train window on the Amtrak NE Corridor.

On the other hand, Mt. Vernon, is gorgeous, and the Harbor is chic enough for Kevin Spacey. So, it runs the full gamut.

I’m originally from Baltimore. I am not proud. I am an elder gay who remembers the department stores and little shops that connected Downtown to the suburbs.I remember when you could be out after 10 and not a soul would bother child or adult. The city went downhill after the 68’ riots. Also has a large black community that’s all talk and no action- black people screwing over black people. They were helped by a white population that didn’t give a damn, a series of bad mayors that would make New Orleans laugh, and great, great poverty.

I got so much better once you left, OP. Wonder why that was.

My hometown was an hour and a half north of Baltimore and I've been there more than a few times over the years.

If you've seen "The Wire," you already know what Baltimore looks like.

I remember when "Inner Harbor" was going to save Baltimore, just like the casinos that were supposed to save Atlantic City.

Oh, well -- nice thought.

They do have one of the nicest ball parks in the league.

I had a subordinate who worked for me for several years who was from Baltimore. Or as he called it 'Ballmer'.

by Anonymousreply 10August 19, 2025 12:29 AM

Isn't Teacup from Baltimore?

by Anonymousreply 11August 19, 2025 12:42 AM

It can't be completely irredeemable if John Waters has a chosen to spend his life there.

Still!

by Anonymousreply 13August 19, 2025 1:40 AM

R6 😂. I love you.

I knew a little old lady from Baltimore - you should see the things she could do!

by Anonymousreply 15August 19, 2025 1:56 AM

Op, sweet dear, by any chance, but do you live at the COCKSUCKER RESIDENCE.

by Anonymousreply 16August 19, 2025 2:04 AM

Born and raised and still here. The stench went away after the OP left.
