Ever tried retainers bought on-line?
Years ago, I finished Invisalign treatment. Since then, I’ve been wearing retainers at night to keep my teeth aligned.
I’ve now come to the end of the 5 sets of retainers I bought when I originally ended my Invisalign. My dentist has changed as I moved. The new dentist says he doesn’t sell the type I used before (vivera) but sell another brand that costs $700! He says it lasts longer than vivera, but wasn’t clear about how long.
I noticed online that there are companies that sell post-Invisalign retainers for about $100. They send you an impression kit that you mail back and make retainers based on that.
Anyone tried this with success?

Do it. When I was in high school, I ended up working for my orthodontist in his lab making retainers because I lost so many (there's a longer story, but I'll skip that). They cost probably $10 in today's prices in materials (plaster, the powdered acrylic, some wire) plus maybe 30 minutes of labor. He taught me how to bend and trim the wires. What dentists charge for mouth guards and orthodontists charge for retainers is outrageous. Sure, they also have overhead to pay, but still... anyone can make them. You just need the dental impression.

A friend went to Mexico and got a Hawley retainer made for cheap. Those are the old fashioned traditional retainers with metal and a palette
