The movie that began P.J. Soles' long career of playing absolute cunts.

Wrong “Carrie.” TCM is showing William Wyler’s 1952 film, based on Dreiser’s “Sister Carrie,” starring Jennifer Jones and Laurence Olivier.

I'm so embarrassed. It's a different movie from 1952 called "Carrie."
Well, fuck. There goes my afternoon.

r4, that's actually a great film.

R6 Maybe, but no teens die in a grisly, fiery senior prom inferno, do they?

It’s Jennifer Jones day on TCM. All day, all night.

Olivier's second and last movie with William Wyler, after "Wuthering Heights," about which Olivier said: “If any film actor is having trouble with his career, can’t master the medium and, anyway, wonders whether it’s worth it, let him pray to meet a man like Wyler.”

William Wyler told Jennifer Jones "they're going to laugh at you!" and kept making her say "Eve was weak!"

My husband and I watched Carrie last night on HBO MAX. He’d never seen it!
And I liked it. I LIKED IT!
Then we watched the 2013 version. Ooof. Well, there were some good aspects, but not many.

Edie McClurg as a high school student always cracks me up.

Edit McClurg has always looked like a frau. Some people are born old looking.

R17 She was 31 when she was in Carrie.

OP, maybe give a date and time so people will know when your posted was dated.

McClurg was on The Stephanie Miller Show many years ago. She was asked why/how she got the part, especially considering her age and she normally would have been one of the popular kids.
She discussed that she came up with her own backstory. She was one of the wealthy kids and everybody was friends with her because she had a nice car and she was able to pick up and drive everybody around. Otherwise, they would have had no use for her.
To me that made sense!
