"Night Always Comes" with Vanessa Kirby on Netflix

The story is interesting if far-fetched, the script is patchy, but Vanessa is terrific in a story about a desperate low-income woman who has 24 hours to raise $25,000. Vanessa definitely falls in the category of great beauties who happen to be character actresses.

HOWEVER, the hair/makeup department failed her in this; there's no way an impoverished trashy girl is going to have her looks, particularly her perfect porcelain skin. "To Leslie" did a much better job of taking an actress and making her look like a down-and-out mess.

With Jennifer Jason Leigh as her mother (only in two scenes, but you can see why she accepted the role) and Randall Park perfect as a smarmy yuppie. Nice to see him do non-comedic work.
