These videos are very cute. And the dog is adorable and smart.

But dogs can’t recognize themselves in a mirror. At best, this sweet girl thinks she’s found a new friend, hence the brining of the gifts.

Some primates have the cognitive ability to understand that when they look in a mirror they are seeing themselves.

Literally has purses falling out of her mouth.

The dog is probably trained to do all this but it’s still darling.

She's not bringing gifts, the owner gives her all these commands off-screen. You just need to teach your dog to fetch stuff, twirl, and stay put at a given spot, and you'll end up with this exact same video.

It's cute, but there's something paternalistic about projecting human qualities onto animals. They don't need any of that, they're perfect as they are.

This poor dog is probably tortured by the owner to produce this kind of idiotic content. What you don’t hear is him screaming commands at the dog of camera. I hate videos like these where some animal is being forced to do something for content.

If anything, R23, that dog loves every minute of attention she's getting from her owner. Dog's love to satisfy, especially the beautiful, friendly breed we see in the video. The wagging tail does not lie. That's what makes dogs so fucking great.

There's only a few animals in the world that touch a mark on themselves when looking at a mirror.

Dogs like having a job. I am sure she likes doing this for whatever reason.

R27, I agree with you wholeheartedly about the wagging of the tail. But where in the original video is the dog wagging its tail? It actually looks pretty lifeless and falls at certain points during the video. Yes dogs do like having jobs. I am just extrapolating from what I see in the video paired with what I know to be an instagram creartor's endless need for attention and content to come up with the idea that this is not exactly fun for the dog. I don't find it cute. There are other dog videos on the gram where it looks like the dog is having fun in the content creation like Kingchillithepug. This isn't one of them.
