I had two senior female cats until March. I don’t know their exact ages but it’s somewhere around 13-16. They had been together most of their lives and I was really worried about the surviving cat but she never seemed bothered. Since her friend passed away she has had a big personality change. She was always laid but about everything but now she’s become super demanding with what she wants. I see now that the other cats strong personality was likely overshadowing her. I’m wondering if I should get another cat or if she would be happier spending the rest of her days as an only cat. Does anyone have experience with bringing a younger cat into a home with an older cat?

How much would an old lady (human) enjoy sharing a room with a 12 year old?
Same answer.

Most cats tend to not like change, they like things to stay the same. She has already lost her life companion and now you want her to have to adjust to a kitten with unlimited energy?

Most cats don't take kindly to newcomers in their homes. Kitten or adult cat, they are usually seen as an interloper. How does your cat behave when she sees other cats in her yard?

She’s always very friendly with all animals But is annoyed by kittens. I feel like she’s really come into her own she’s become more affectionate with me. She’s developed opinions on what she likes to eat and doesn’t like to eat and she’s starting being demanding with me. When i had her friend she was the one in charge and was very possessive of my attention. I worry about another cat coming in and disrupting her new routine.

Actually my newish cat hates the older cat. The older cat will try to make friends and the little one will slap her away.

Not in my experience, OP. Cats tend to be pretty territorial. I think you'd have to introduce the cats very gradually and referee them so they don't fight too much.

I also want to add that I've experienced the same scenario. An 11 year old cat lost her sister and became extra needy. I think she got a lot of comfort out of being around humans and never wanted another cat friend.
Yes, the two cats were rescue cats.

I think it is the OP who is lonely, we should move a teenager in their home to keep them company.
