I'm in love.

Guess why it's so inexpensive though.

Thanks for the tip. I'm seeing it in an hour!

by Anonymousreply 1August 14, 2025 3:55 PM

Seems nice, OP -- but you couldn't pay me enough to live in Buffalo. Too c-c-cold!

by Anonymousreply 2August 14, 2025 3:55 PM

R2- Buffalo is notorious for the SNOW not so much the cold.

by Anonymousreply 3August 14, 2025 3:59 PM

[quote] Guess why it's so inexpensive though.

I don't have time to play your little guessing games.

by Anonymousreply 4August 14, 2025 4:00 PM

Because it’s in BUFFALO

by Anonymousreply 5August 14, 2025 4:04 PM

I do love it. Not from NY so what's wrong with Buffalo?

by Anonymousreply 6August 14, 2025 4:12 PM

Here’s why the price is so low.

Bring a Ouija board R1

by Anonymousreply 8August 14, 2025 4:27 PM

The problem is that if the ghosts suffer CTE from their deaths, OP will get nothing but demands for pudding.

by Anonymousreply 9August 14, 2025 4:31 PM

looks cute, I'd live there

by Anonymousreply 10August 14, 2025 4:35 PM

[quote]Guess why it's so inexpensive though.

It's in a colored neighborhood?

by Anonymousreply 11August 14, 2025 4:40 PM

My coworker knew the couple and when I showed her the listing, she was like "yah, I got news why it's so inexpensive..."

The crime was random, and the murderer is behind bars.

I mean, I lived in Philly for decades where every house is a crime scene AND I gave Ghost Tours of the historic district.

Better being haunted by an A Gay couple than some filthy hetero murder/suicide ghosts.

I'll post pics Saturday after I see it.

RIP to the poor slain couple.

by Anonymousreply 12August 14, 2025 4:41 PM

Ants!

by Anonymousreply 13August 14, 2025 4:41 PM

Murder house!

Blunt force trauma.

No way they got every bit of blood spatter. Imagine moving in and discovering some while you're painting or something.

by Anonymousreply 14August 14, 2025 4:44 PM

Trust us.... find another place!

by Anonymousreply 15August 14, 2025 4:45 PM

Nope. I don’t mind death. Death is natural. I draw the line at murder.

Unless it comes with Dylan McDermott walking around naked, it's a pass for me.

I can't believe two gay men lived with that carpeting.

I love the house, actually.

you're going to die in there

by Anonymousreply 21August 14, 2025 5:13 PM

Imagine being haunted by homosexuals as you move in. You load in your china and all the audible tsk tsking from the dark corners of the room.

“Ew I think it’s Fiesta” could just barely be heard.

by Anonymousreply 22August 14, 2025 5:25 PM

[quote] Imagine being haunted by homosexuals as you move in.

We don't have to imagine it. We lived it!

A gay ghost would help keep things tidy. I don't see the downside here.

Its a darling little place but Im not going to knowingly live in some place that had such a violent crime happened in .

by Anonymousreply 27August 14, 2025 5:38 PM

Gay Ghosts, coming soon on Lifetime.

by Anonymousreply 28August 14, 2025 5:40 PM

R6, Buffalo is not in NY, it’s in NYS.

by Anonymousreply 29August 14, 2025 5:40 PM

Send in Jennifer Love Hewitt, OP.

by Anonymousreply 30August 14, 2025 5:41 PM

Murder House was THE best of Ryan Murphy.

by Anonymousreply 31August 14, 2025 5:47 PM

And everyone will want you to host the Halloween party each year!!!

Why you don't want to live in Buffalo.

by Anonymousreply 33August 14, 2025 5:53 PM

r33 which of those two things is it?

by Anonymousreply 34August 14, 2025 6:04 PM

It's so cool! But does heat and A/C cost an additional $2,000/mo.?

by Anonymousreply 35August 14, 2025 6:06 PM

[quote]Imagine being haunted by homosexuals as you move in. You load in your china and all the audible tsk tsking from the dark corners of the room.

by Anonymousreply 36August 14, 2025 6:10 PM

Besides the murder and all.... it looks like two different apartments that are now one. Each has a kitchen, living room, bedroom, bath, etc. Maybe the owners couldn't make it work as two apartments. But this is actually an arrangement I like, you and your partner can live together and separately.

by Anonymousreply 37August 14, 2025 6:11 PM

Sorry, r36 was me the OP.

I imagine the gay ghosts will enjoy my framed Patti LuPone poster collection and my Disney Villainesses figurines.

by Anonymousreply 38August 14, 2025 6:11 PM

[Quote] Even worse, what if the ghosts start fighting, and getting snippy with each other?

I beg your finest pardon???

IF??? IF???

Are you new to the DL, dearheart?

by Anonymousreply 39August 14, 2025 6:13 PM

The problem is the GRAY WALLS and so-called LVT, not the dead gays.

by Anonymousreply 40August 14, 2025 6:29 PM

[quote]$985 2030 Sq. Ft. Beautiful Apartment in charming Buffalo's BEST neighborhood I'm viewing on Saturday.

The link says 1BR, 1BA and 1,000 sq. ft. Where are you getting 2030?

by Anonymousreply 41August 14, 2025 6:34 PM

r32 nah Buffalo will have six feet of snow by then.

by Anonymousreply 42August 14, 2025 6:35 PM

The trailer I live in now was rented out to two gay men for years before the owner sold it to me.

And my house in St. Pete was owned by a lesbian couple before they sold it to me.

It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to live in a legacy gay house.

Cheers, OP!

by Anonymousreply 43August 14, 2025 6:51 PM

“A gays?” In Buffalo?? Now I’ve seen everything.

by Anonymousreply 44August 14, 2025 6:54 PM

Buffalo is a rough blue collar town.

by Anonymousreply 45August 14, 2025 7:08 PM

Rough trade?

by Anonymousreply 46August 14, 2025 7:09 PM

My ex's parents are from Buffalo. They'd never MET a Jewish person until they met me. They assumed I went to temple every day and had a "special diet." A lot of whispers and cold stares. Naturally, they were devoted Catholics.

by Anonymousreply 47August 14, 2025 7:13 PM

They were very perceptive ..your EX in-laws

by Anonymousreply 48August 14, 2025 7:15 PM

[quote]The problem is the GRAY WALLS

Exactly. What is it with realtors today that they think gray *everything* covers up every problem?

Murderous bloodbath in the house? Paint it a bright cheery shade of gray! No one will be reminded of violent crime then!

by Anonymousreply 49August 14, 2025 7:19 PM

The carpet looks moldy in the corners in some of the rooms. And how many kitchens does that place have?

by Anonymousreply 50August 14, 2025 7:20 PM

NJ was home to Princeton, the “most southern” Ivy and full of slaveholders’ sons. NJ elected the most reactionary segregationist as governor—the president of Princeton. Me, Woodrow Wilson

by Anonymousreply 51August 14, 2025 7:22 PM

Oops —other thread

by Anonymousreply 52August 14, 2025 7:23 PM

why are there THREE stoves??

by Anonymousreply 53August 14, 2025 7:24 PM

That was my error R41. It's a two story house

by Anonymousreply 54August 14, 2025 7:41 PM

The no pets is a deal killer. But I like it. I’d want working fireplaces.

by Anonymousreply 55August 14, 2025 7:43 PM

nice...Sage it before you move in.....

by Anonymousreply 56August 14, 2025 7:45 PM

I see what you did^

My bulldog is name Killer!

by Anonymousreply 57August 14, 2025 7:45 PM

Working fireplaces are no longer allowed in my city

by Anonymousreply 58August 14, 2025 7:46 PM

So when Zillow says it's on a "quite dead-end street"... (quoting from the webpage)

by Anonymousreply 59August 14, 2025 7:46 PM

[quote] The no pets is a deal killer

They have to protect the carpet.

by Anonymousreply 60August 14, 2025 7:52 PM

Well I can always repaint, r49.

Anyone want to help me pick out a tasteful color scheme?

Oh man, that reminds me I should've titled this thread with "Tasteful Friends."

by Anonymousreply 61August 14, 2025 7:56 PM

R47: Classmate of mine is Jewish--pillar of the JCC, etc. Buffalo was not a top choice but he's been very happy there and has done well professionally.

by Anonymousreply 62August 14, 2025 8:00 PM

[quote]They have to protect the carpet.

The carpet was already soaked in blood from a fucking double murder. What's a little cat piss?

by Anonymousreply 63August 14, 2025 8:02 PM

Actually the landlord is allowing my cat, I asked. My argument is that cats keep out mice. That's no lie.

by Anonymousreply 64August 14, 2025 8:12 PM

Are there any size 14 gals in the neighborhood?

by Anonymousreply 65August 14, 2025 8:15 PM

So, according to the listing the apt at $985/mo gives you one of the floors, not both. It's a 2-unit bldg.

by Anonymousreply 66August 14, 2025 8:18 PM

A squirt of Bull Shot will eliminate those blood stains in a jif!

To commit suicide in Buffalo is redundant.

by Anonymousreply 68August 14, 2025 9:26 PM

Outside of seeing that it has appropriate locks and security, who cares as far as renting an apartment?

If you live in enough old houses, it's likely someone or multiple people died there, suicide rate for men is 5x that of the murder rate. People die and often enough at home. In 2022, 31% of Americans died at home, in the early 20thC that figure was more than 80%.

It means only that death is a fact of life.

Nice little house.

by Anonymousreply 69August 14, 2025 9:40 PM

abitontheside, now that we know exactly where you'll be living, I can drop off a housewarming gift next time I'm in Buffalo -- which will be never. How about some Potpourri? Can always FedEx it.

by Anonymousreply 70August 14, 2025 10:07 PM

Well OP, when the shit hits the Orange Asshole fan, you can always grab your passport and run over the bridge to the CA side of the Falls.

by Anonymousreply 71August 14, 2025 11:16 PM

R71 I’m already looking at places in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Great wine country, the Shaw etc.

by Anonymousreply 72August 14, 2025 11:29 PM

I have cousins in Mississauga. I lived in Islington (Etobicoke) for a year in 1980.

by Anonymousreply 73August 14, 2025 11:36 PM

I want to visit Buffalo. And Pittsburgh. I've started multiple threads about them in my decades on datalounge. Nobody has caught on to my weird obsession.

by Anonymousreply 74August 14, 2025 11:48 PM

I don’t understand how a rundown one-bedroom in BUFFALO is seen as a bargain for almost 1k a month.

by Anonymousreply 75August 14, 2025 11:55 PM

Pittsburgh is MUCH nicer r74

by Anonymousreply 76August 15, 2025 12:02 AM

Well r75, a LOT of these places include utilities, but this one doesn’t.

Compared to Philadelphia where I came from, they only ask for one month deposit up front as opposed to Philly’s first, last & deposit.

There is nothing but vacancy here, the houses in Allentown and Elmwood are gorgeous gilded age mansions, mostly carved into apartments. Beautiful, unique apartments. But the town is plateaued as far as population. Nobody moves here, they leave here. I did.

Nearby is a sublime Olmsted Park , it is beyond gorgeous, underrated, and a treasure. Philly has no Olmsted park system. I mean, he designed Central Park.

There’s tons of restaurants and boutiques.

Theodore Roosevelt was sworn in as President in 1901 after the McKinley assassination right down the street.

I have no car but the transit system works well here to get around. It’s a small city, and it’s he infrastructure here is exceptionally better than Penndot.

It was the 8th largest city in America in 1901. NYC grew because of the Erie Canal here. You’re welcome NYC.

Listen, I left a nightmare living situation. I welcome the opportunity to live with gay ghosts. The musical writes itself.

The pizza here I mention last for a reason. It is….unreal good.

Go Bills.

by Anonymousreply 77August 15, 2025 1:20 AM

How’s the dick in Buffalo?

by Anonymousreply 78August 15, 2025 1:43 AM

Why do people shuffle to Buffalo? Can't they take a barge on that canal that catches fire sometimes?

by Anonymousreply 79August 15, 2025 1:46 AM

Pittsburgh is great. I'm going next week.

by Anonymousreply 80August 15, 2025 2:28 AM

Best of luck, r77. I view a cheap rent situation as a temporary opportunity to save for something much better. If you can find some charm in it and this place has it, so much the better. It would be at least double that where I live.

But my relatives from Buffalo left for the Philadelphia area over 25 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 81August 15, 2025 2:32 AM

But how are the wild wings, OP?

by Anonymousreply 82August 15, 2025 4:13 AM

Buffalo is considered one of the primo living destinations for the climate change we are heading into. It has the infrastructure to support a population double what is has now. Its proximity to the great lakes means water will never be an issue. On the other hand, the lake effect snow and the storms whipping off of Lake Erie are legendary. I'd move there if I were younger. Ghosts from a murder in an apartment don't scare me.

The Sci-fi channel ran a series a couple of year back called Surreal Estate, about ghosts who lingered in buildings and bothered new owners/tenants, and a special group of realtors especially equipped to deal with them.

by Anonymousreply 83August 15, 2025 5:59 AM

We recently bought our dream home from the estate of a 101 year old woman who died here. It feels warm and cozy. She left good longevity mojo. She left behind all of the colorful shrubs, rose bushes and trees that she carefully chose to plant decades ago. We had to change the wall colors, curtains, and light fixtures to butch it up a bit. When the next owners take over, they'll say, "We're being haunted by two pickled queens. All of the walls were slate gray. You can still almost hear the Broadway showtunes and smell the cheap cologne".

by Anonymousreply 84August 15, 2025 7:57 AM

Shuffle off, OP!
