Watching Singin’ in the Rain for the first time.

On HBO Max. I can’t believe I’ve never seen it. Am I a bad homosexual? I’m a big film buff, and I try to see all the ones on those “Best Of” lists. I guess it’s because I’ve never been a fan of most movie musicals and thought it would be too hokey for me. So far, I’m enjoying it. Gene Kelly is HOT and Debbie Reynolds is cute, but I am LOVING Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen)!

We might need more information.

I never cared for Debbie Reynolds and Gene Kelly, boring.

This is one of my favorite movies, not just musicals.

They adapted it for the Broadway stage in the 1980s and it's a very faithful adaptation, glad to say.

I try to catch a regional theater production whenever I can.

Very few men in Hollywood were as classy as Gene Kelly. Gregory Peck or Fred Astaire were the only ones on par with Kelly.

You are having the correct gay response to the movie - Jean Hagen is the best thing in it.

Extra gay points if you clocked Kathleen Freeman playing a rare non-battleaxe role as the stuffy elocution teacher.

Five posts and no one's mentioned ME?

Nobody had mentioned wonderful Kathleen Freeman as a diction coach. Lina mangles her line to something like "I cahn't stan' im!"

by Anonymousreply 7August 12, 2025 12:23 PM

Kathleen Freeman.

She even did commercials for Hood orange juice.

I never cared for Mf. Kelly.

Who got to eat Gene Kelly's ass out?

That was a buffet he had on his backside!

No she's not.. Acting wise, Lina Lamont is a very easy role to play.

On the other hand, Donald and Gene dance their asses off. Watch "Moses Supposes".

Watch Gene Kelly's crisp clean muscular dance moves. The way he holds his head as he dances. His expressions.

THIS is greatness.
