The one and only Whitney Houston was born 62 years ago today, on August 9, 1963. Can't help but wonder what kind of music she'd be recording these days had she stayed alive.
Whitney Houston would've been 62 today

“Oh yeah? Is that so, DIANE?”

I doubt she'd be recording much anymore. She'd likely be just another one of those old black divas you're constantly surprised are still alive when you think about them.

Her voice was shot in the last couple of years of her life. She would be retired. If she got her addictions cleared up-- maybe acting in tv movies.

She could do some Christmas Hallmark stuff if she needed quick cash.
Or Lifetime original movies. They’re always looking for down on their luck performers.

r4 Yup, that is what I was thinking.

I loved her when she had attitude. Nobody has ever done it better

She probably woud've recorded more covers like "I Will Always Love You" or maybe a theme album like Barbra S.'s water-themed late 70s album.

"A Whitney Christmas," which would soar to #1 in digital sales every year at Christmas time.

I wonder what she’d make of Wendy Williams situation.

If she hadn't drowned do you think her daughter might have survived too?

In honor of the great trainwreck she, sadly, became…

That reality show she did with Bobby Brown in the 2000s was so cringe and a terrible career move. What the fuck was she thinking?!
For me, peak Whitney will always be circa 1990-1995 (I'M YOUR BABY TONIGHT album, the national anthem at the Super Bowl, THE BODYGUARD film and soundtrack, WAITING TO EXHALE film and the accompanying single "Shoop Shoop."

The Shoop tune was when she started going downhill to me. Where was the rest of the **** song?

I think Mad TV has the answer to OP's question.

She completely destroyed her voice and upper respiratory tract from the heavy smoking and snorting coke. She'd probably have a trach by now if she was still alive.

She was an incredibly beautiful and talented woman. RIP Whitney.

R4 "She could do some Christmas Hallmark stuff if she needed quick cash."
Whatever do you mean?

"Paula Abdul ain't shit. That girl is singing off key on the record" @ 2:39.
One of my favorite Whitney moments.

Had she lived and rehabbed her voice, she could have done what Johnny Cash did in his later years -- release a series of albums covering contemporary songs that play to her strengths.

I don’t think she’d still be recording. Her voice was a mess on that last album, which was ok. It just wasn’t Whitney (The Voice) Houston. Still, I’m happy she had something of a comeback before she died.
I think we’re forgetting what a nightmare that last tour was.
