My elderly stepfather only gets about $1800/month, and they take a piece of that for Medicare.

$2,600. $250 goes to Medicare. I retired at 63. If I had held on to full retirement age I would have received $3,500/month.

In current dollars, my pension and SS benefit are projected to provide me with a pre-Medicare income of about $8k per month.
In future dollars, it's some ludicrously inflated dollar figure.
