Sarah Jessica Parker is taking the cancellation of AJLT hard

She wants to try to get a new spinoff show of just Carrie or a limited series

by Anonymousreply 149August 10, 2025 3:52 AM

It's giving Baby Jane Hudson vibes at this point.

by Anonymousreply 1August 7, 2025 4:55 PM

She loves the free clothes

by Anonymousreply 2August 7, 2025 4:56 PM

I couldn't help but wonder: Is it time to put the old gray mare out to pasture? 🐴

by Anonymousreply 3August 7, 2025 5:01 PM

I could see a Carrie - only show.

But...she's 60. Not old, but a bit old to be going around the city sipping cosmos in high heels.

I think she needs to move to a new city and write about that - and how to de-New York yourself and open yourself to another environment.

by Anonymousreply 4August 7, 2025 5:04 PM

r5 seems a wee bit triggered.

Maybe he needs a "safe space" and some Play-Doh.

by Anonymousreply 6August 7, 2025 5:07 PM

How about - 'And Just Like That - the Final years'. Takes place in an upscale assisted living facility where the remaining cast is shown wearing old, tattered designer garb stained with food and jabbering about the past - think Miss Havisham from Great Expectations.

It’s her identity.

by Anonymousreply 9August 7, 2025 5:12 PM

It's not even her work though. It's Candace Bushnell's creation, yet SJP acts like she created the whole damn thing. She got publicly pissed when they did The Carrie Diaries, because she couldn't fathom another actress doing HER role. I'm sure the author loves the money, but at some point, you'd think she release a statement sort of putting things into perspective.

by Anonymousreply 10August 7, 2025 5:12 PM

Wow - this thread escalated quickly.

TAKES REINS!! Even Radar Online can't resist a good SJP looks like a horse joke.

by Anonymousreply 15August 7, 2025 5:28 PM

I think there should be a soinoff featuring her huge honker. We would follow it as it experiences life in the big city - including cold and pollen season.

They could use cgi to return it to her pre-rhinoplasty days, when it was as big as Montana, for flashback scenes.

People watch AJLT, so they’d watch this.

by Anonymousreply 16August 7, 2025 5:31 PM

Spinoff

by Anonymousreply 17August 7, 2025 5:31 PM

How can the cancellation be news to an executive producer? Presumably she was kept in the loop.

by Anonymousreply 18August 7, 2025 5:32 PM

I want her to focus on giving us Hocus Pocus Part 3 before Bette Midler croaks. The movie has been "in development" for the past couple years. What gives? Part 2 was very successful.

by Anonymousreply 19August 7, 2025 5:34 PM

Move her to London. Each episode follows her stalking Duncan.

by Anonymousreply 20August 7, 2025 5:46 PM

Milk that cash cow 'til those giant udders falls off, gurl!!!

by Anonymousreply 21August 7, 2025 5:47 PM

Sarah Jessica Parker has to do something. She has 3 ugly, unremarkable & talentless children to support for the rest of their lives.

by Anonymousreply 22August 7, 2025 7:12 PM
Sarah Jessica Parker has to do something. She has 3 ugly, unremarkable & talentless children to support for the rest of their lives.

So does Demi Moore, but you don’t see her hanging onto characters from 25 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 23August 7, 2025 7:30 PM

How about a series where Carrie marries a gay nepo baby actor and starts a family while cultivating an all-new, even more dreadful set of friends? A fame hungry cable executive, his dour news anchor best friend, a married couple with their own talk show, and their respective nannies, who are all that stand between them and their respective children. The story ideas would be endless. Game nights! Cocktail hours! Trips to the Hamptons! Shopping! A guaranteed smash hit.

by Anonymousreply 24August 7, 2025 8:00 PM

R23, Demi has done a lot of shitty films over the years. Demi was doing voice overs for podcasts back in 2020.

One of her ugly daughters just did a humiliatingly vulgar commercial (see below). Daddy's money isn't rolling in anymore

by Anonymousreply 25August 7, 2025 8:04 PM

I didn’t read the linked article, because — well, why bother?

What I take away from this was that HBO pulled the plug, which was a surprise to Parker and King. Probably simply seeing the outline for this season (again with Aidan?) and a couple of finished scripts convinced them that this creative team was drifting, with no clear plan for any real forward momentum or drama re the character arcs. Meanwhile they probably already had an inkling that they were going to renew “The Gilded Age,” which is incredibly expensive, and the salaries for Parker, Nixon and Davis were probably about to hit higher levels which weren’t justified by ratings that probably weren’t growing the way numbers for “The Gilded Age” has.

by Anonymousreply 26August 7, 2025 8:05 PM

Kinda surprised that they're able to shop this out to other streamers, but WB/HBO must have guaranteed profit participation, so they probably now just told them to go knock themselves out trying this sad attempt..

by Anonymousreply 27August 7, 2025 8:22 PM

She needs to let. It. Go....

by Anonymousreply 28August 7, 2025 8:27 PM

Good, gravy, give it a rest already SJP.

Didn’t she do other things before this ridiculous show?

Didn’t she do fucking Broadway?? Can’t she get back to that? Or is she just too lazy to work that hard again?

by Anonymousreply 29August 7, 2025 8:29 PM

Dear God, won't somebody hire her? We can't be having her spend more time at home!

by Anonymousreply 30August 7, 2025 8:33 PM
Didn’t she do fucking Broadway?? Can’t she get back to that? Or is she just too lazy to work that hard again?

There's a very funny-bitchy moment in her memoir SHY where Mary Rodgers says that the part of Winifred the Woebegone from her hit Once Upon a Mattress is harder than it looks because you need a whole bunch of things to succeed, among them a powerful belting voice, serious comedic chops, and a likeable stage presence,. She then says Carol Burnett had all of those things but SJP only had one of them (presumably, the likeable stage presence), which is why the 90s Broadway revival of Once Upon a Mattress was not a success.

SJP is going to have to content herself with supporting roles from now on--her days of being a romantic heroine are over. I doubt she'll even get many lead roles, unless they revive the "Ma Kettle" franchise (she'd be perfect in the part).

by Anonymousreply 31August 7, 2025 8:42 PM

How was that show Divorce?

by Anonymousreply 32August 7, 2025 8:42 PM

MPK was also too old for this revival--he's 70. It was like he simply did not understand all the changes in American sociology in the last 15 years, but had heard about them and so wrote them into the show even though he knew nothing about them.

by Anonymousreply 33August 7, 2025 8:44 PM

Not bad.
She needs to let. It. Go....

The woman needs to let it [bold]go[/bold].

by Anonymousreply 35August 7, 2025 8:53 PM

She’s coming across like Florence Henderson did - milking her old TV show for all its worth.

by Anonymousreply 36August 7, 2025 9:03 PM

R32 - Divorce was a slog - SJP (Carrie) was petty, whiny and just a nag (not related to the equine species). OTOH, Thomas Haden Church was a delight - I really like him as an actor and believe he's a 'roll with it' kinda guy in real life.

And what's with the continuation of the long, mane like hairstyle that she's worn for over 3 decades. Other than that, I think she's God's gift to the entertainment world and is universally underappreciated.

by Anonymousreply 37August 7, 2025 9:21 PM

This fucking sea hag needs to give it a REST.

by Anonymousreply 38August 7, 2025 9:23 PM

Let's fake out the old clam.

We'll do ANOTHER series, but in a shocking twist, Carrie drops dead from alcohol poisoning in the first episode, and her ill-gotten brownstone is taken over by Gen-Z squatters who turn it into some kind of commie co-op/soap factory. And the drama shifts to their little problems and sex lives.

It's Donald Trump's America in 2025. Ain't nobody giving a HOT SHIT about cute heels or boozy brunches or which menopausal millionaire twat got laid last week. Get some real fucking problems, horsey!

by Anonymousreply 39August 7, 2025 9:27 PM

She has talent and excelled in many of her early roles. She would be better served by branching out, taking supporting, character-actor roles, even doing the stage. But no, she wants to be a one-trick pony I guess.

by Anonymousreply 40August 7, 2025 9:27 PM

I don’t dislike Parker, I like her. And she ‘s done the very best with what he has and managed to eke out a fine career and life, especially for someone whose talent was small and whose looks were never classically beautiful (except when it came to her great chassis).

Retire gracefully, Sarah, you’ve gone far for that little trailer trash girl in “Annie.”

by Anonymousreply 41August 7, 2025 9:40 PM

JLo vibes here. Give it a rest girl.

by Anonymousreply 42August 7, 2025 9:51 PM

I think they should do another movie where the go to Scandinavia and meet hot, Nordic men in the winter. They could wear fabulous coats, sweaters and boots, learn how to ski, see the Northern lights…I’d watch

by Anonymousreply 43August 7, 2025 10:15 PM

Doesn’t she have gobs and gobs of money? Why doesn’t she just enjoy life now?

She should be eternally grateful for the number of hit tv shows and movies she’s been in, a more solid career than many actors with ten times her talent.

by Anonymousreply 44August 7, 2025 10:27 PM

It’s time to revive Golda’s Balcony!

Or The Sisters Rosensweig starting these three.

by Anonymousreply 45August 7, 2025 10:35 PM

SJP and Kim Cattrall in a remake of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?

by Anonymousreply 46August 7, 2025 10:44 PM

Maybe tubi ill pick them up...

by Anonymousreply 47August 7, 2025 10:48 PM

Not knowing when to call it quits never works out well.

by Anonymousreply 48August 7, 2025 10:51 PM

Her commercial success has exceeded her talent. And that is not putting her down by any stretch.

But she has made a shit ton of money off of Carrie Bradshaw.

by Anonymousreply 49August 7, 2025 10:52 PM

SJP could be great in a remake of Sunset Boulevard with Glen Close in a minor supporting role.

by Anonymousreply 50August 7, 2025 10:54 PM

In 15 years she'll be at Lucille Ball Life With Lucy age, so maybe audiences will be ready for another reboot then.

Maybe it's time for SJP to make a Stone Pillow remake? Unless Gary talks her out of it.

by Anonymousreply 51August 7, 2025 11:01 PM

Keep Calm and Carrie On

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 52August 7, 2025 11:06 PM

If there's a remake of anything featuring SJP, they better step on it. She's 60(?) and in a few more years she'll scooting around on one of those 'Hoveround' personal conveyance. Then the story would have to center around a bunch of tired old heifers running around on be-dazzled scooters playing motorized shuffleboard and cutting in line at the 24 hour buffet. Yeah, I'd watch that.

by Anonymousreply 53August 7, 2025 11:10 PM

Young Carrie! Id that fucking Sheldon can pull it off, than I can do this, Young Carrie in 6th grade smoking cigs in the middle of social studies class and writing diaries about her crushes instead of classwork

by Anonymousreply 54August 7, 2025 11:13 PM

She should move the story into animation. It’s where canceled shows used to go.

It’s sort of like watching g a caught fish flopping around on a dock until it asphyxiates, but it’s a sort of increased longevity.

I’d like to see the ladies fighting monsters in space.

And they can bring back Kim Cattrall since she could do her voice recording without ever seeing or even hearing the rest of the cast.
SJP could be great in a remake of Sunset Boulevard with Glen Close in a minor supporting role.

Sooooo great if you overlook the fact that she can't sing for shit.

by Anonymousreply 56August 7, 2025 11:48 PM

The movie, not the musical, honey. Gloria Swanson did not sing.

by Anonymousreply 57August 7, 2025 11:50 PM

And SJP will win a gutless Oscar for that role, while G gets yet another empty fucking nomination.

by Anonymousreply 58August 7, 2025 11:55 PM

Pardon me, honey. I'm sure your mention of Glenn Close had nothing to do with my misunderstanding of your great wit.

by Anonymousreply 59August 7, 2025 11:56 PM

I appreciate that she didn't fuck up her face with surgery or medspa treatments and she's always kept a trim figure. Small praise but it can't be easy being a lead actress from a sex comedy who is now old.

Having said that, this character needs to die!! It had already run its course by the end of the show. The movies and the revival are insufferable. Had they ended the series on a realistic note, where she doesn't find her rich prince charming then the revivals could've worked. I think people would be far more interested in watching a show about a woman who makes a normal income and lives a normal life in her 60s after some glamorous younger years, but is also trying to date.

by Anonymousreply 60August 8, 2025 12:03 AM
We'll do ANOTHER series, but in a shocking twist, Carrie drops dead from alcohol poisoning in the first episode, and her ill-gotten brownstone is taken over by Gen-Z squatters who turn it into some kind of commie co-op/soap factory.

Make it a glue factory and 30 minutes, and you've got a deal.

by Anonymousreply 61August 8, 2025 12:08 AM

Samantha was the only interesting character. The other three are irritating twats. Nobody wants to see more of Carrie you dumb hoe.

by Anonymousreply 62August 8, 2025 12:38 AM

Jennifer Aniston was able to move past Rachel Green. It's time for SJP to do the same.

by Anonymousreply 63August 8, 2025 12:40 AM

So HBO Max cancelled the show and Parker is having trouble moving on? If the article is true, it confirms what we expected-- The show was involuntarily axed and King's comment that "we decided " to end things was bull shit.

The network likely agreed to 2 additional episodes to wrap things up . . . probably after King and Parker whined that the plots weren't done.

Repeated bad decisions doomed this thing. It was a mercy killing. I agree that Parker needs to look for a new role to play in a well written script. While she has limited talent and is no classic beauty, Parker has screen presence to carry her if she has a decent script.

by Anonymousreply 64August 8, 2025 12:48 AM

Maureen Callahan, a celebrity/pop culture commentator has been doing a months-long takedown of the series/SJP and her recent episode was hilarious.

SJP's reaction just confirmed everything Kim ever said about her. Seriously, there must be some data to show SJP that the Carrie character became toxic after S3 of the original series. Gosh, you'd think that the persona we thought we knew wore away and the real SJP emerged as she gained more control over the character.

He said that the fans wanted to see Carrie rich and living her best life in AJLT in designer clothes.

Uh, no?

People liked Carrie in SATC when she was a good-natured, irresponsible mess with weird clothes.

by Anonymousreply 85August 8, 2025 12:19 PM

They misread their audience. The average SATC viewer 20 years ago was not a shallow, wealth-obsessed status seeker. She was an office drone with middle class ambitions looking for a little romance and escapism on a Sunday night. The wealth and status obsessions of the final season, the films, and now AJLT, couldn't sustain that audience. It's not why they tuned in initially. The show became something else entirely, and any early fans who stuck around were mostly hate-watching or couldn't tear their eyes off the train wreck before them.

SJP and the other creatives never caught this. They were too busy with their heads up their asses, destroying once-iconic characters for yet another paycheck.

by Anonymousreply 86August 8, 2025 12:34 PM

She fights for us!

by Anonymousreply 87August 8, 2025 12:43 PM

You nailed it. SJP loves smelling her own farts.

She thinks she can swan around NYC in ridiculous getups and that’s all the audience needs.

by Anonymousreply 88August 8, 2025 12:53 PM

R65: She goes on a bit too long, but parts are really funny.

by Anonymousreply 89August 8, 2025 1:23 PM

Give it up Carrie you can't compete with Emily.

by Anonymousreply 90August 8, 2025 1:52 PM

Parker is wearing blinders if she didn't see the writing on the wall: the show was heading for inevitable cancellation soon.

by Anonymousreply 91August 8, 2025 2:01 PM

How long had they been planning for it to run?

by Anonymousreply 92August 8, 2025 2:10 PM

Now she can do that Broadway revival of "To Grandmother's House We Go" everybody has been clamoring for.

by Anonymousreply 93August 8, 2025 2:25 PM

I doubt that this unceremonious ending bodes well for SJP getting much in the way of offers. She has limited range as an actress and I don't see her doing character roles. Absent old time vehicles for old actors like Dinner Theater or Murder, She Wrote, the only options might be voice work--she could exploit being Carrie that way, but for how long?

Has Broderick done anything lately? Is there any chance that their ugly kids will go into performing? They really seem like a homely bunch--receiving the least attractive features of each parent.

by Anonymousreply 94August 8, 2025 4:58 PM

by Anonymousreply 105August 8, 2025 6:52 PM

RADAR ONLINE is complete crap, unreported, click bait garbage.

by Anonymousreply 106August 8, 2025 7:05 PM

The two movies were bad, especially the second one, but where they miscalculated with the spin-off was the playing to social justice and related things. The original series was about materialistic women enjoying New York City and they happened to be a group of friends. The show tried to shoe-horn gender identity, racial diversity and other stuff into the mix, probably because they felt they had to or they would face the wrath of keyboard warriors comparing four white women to Nazi Germany for maintaining their close-knit friendship and not admitting token add-ons every race and ambiguous gender to their group. I'm not sure any great filklma or TV series can come off as anything but disingenuous when they are essentially blackmailed into storylines and casting. Probably, had the new show been conceived now versus several years ago, at the height of social justice warrior policing, they could have gotten away with just a continuation of the original series, minus all of the box checking they felt forced to do at the outset.

by Anonymousreply 107August 8, 2025 7:05 PM

She gave birth to their son. She was pregnant during Season 5. The costume department (Pat Field) did a good job hiding it. It was more obvious in the last episode (the one with the Hamptons wedding with Nathan Lane).

She used a surrogate for her daughters (who are twins).

by Anonymousreply 121August 8, 2025 11:42 PM

Was this why my towns morning radio show guys were talking about Jamie Gertz? Rebooting Square Pegs??

They said she was a billionaire many times over, with partial ownership of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Atlanta pro basketball team. I believe.

🤔

by Anonymousreply 122August 9, 2025 1:58 AM

That's true r122. Her husband is loaded, but he's self-made. When he and Jamie first met and started dating many years ago he was flat broke and living with a bunch of roommates.

by Anonymousreply 123August 9, 2025 1:59 AM

Yeah, the morning show dudes were mentioning that early on in their marriage, she was the breadwinner and they had their house and other things because of her and her tv show/ movie earnings.

That’s cool. Good for them.

She probably wouldn’t be interested in a reboot or revisit.

by Anonymousreply 124August 9, 2025 2:04 AM

Has SJP considered doing a remake of NATIONAL VELVET?

Thanks for the laugh!

Jami Gertz, Tracy Nelson, and Claudette Wells might've appreciated being thrown a guest-star bone or two on SATC/AJLT.

I guess SJP never imagined a world where Square Pegs would be considered a less embarrassing show, but that's what she's made happen!

by Anonymousreply 127August 9, 2025 3:59 AM

Jamie had a mild comeback in 2012 on The Neighbors, which ran for 2 seasons. She was pleasant and the show was simple and enjoyable.
Has SJP considered doing a remake of NATIONAL VELVET?

She's more interested in doing another comedy. Maybe a "Mr. Ed" reboot?

by Anonymousreply 129August 9, 2025 9:08 AM

Jamie was great in Still Standing. I really enjoyed that show. Sally Struthers as her mother in law was especially funny. I mean who couldn’t enjoy a show that dedicates an entire episode to the teenage son’s complete embarrassment over his giant cock?

by Anonymousreply 130August 9, 2025 11:45 AM

I’ve had sufficient. R127

You all understand that RADAR is not a fact based website. It is click bait with ZERO reporting.

by Anonymousreply 132August 9, 2025 12:30 PM

She’s the most boring character on the show. Sure she wears fashionable clothes but the bitch is 60–stop with the stilettos.

A show about her would just be about her getting bitchier and bitchier. And no one wants to see a wrinkled bitch fucking around

by Anonymousreply 133August 9, 2025 12:39 PM
the bitch is 60–stop with the stilettos.

I see a hip fracture in her future.

by Anonymousreply 134August 9, 2025 12:45 PM

I googled who represents her. She used to be with CAA but now they don’t represent the acting part of her career.

I’m just surprised that an agent/manager wasn’t on top of how bad this show was and, while it was lucrative, Carrie was meal ticket and hook for other acting and marketing endeavors, so they should have pushed for change.

by Anonymousreply 135August 9, 2025 12:46 PM

Kevin Huvane is SJP's agent.

by Anonymousreply 136August 9, 2025 4:02 PM

SJP doesn't seem like the type to heed career advice from anyone. She has to be very entitled, thinking she could just keep playing the same ridiculous character in vehicle after vehicle, through 2 TV series and multiple films, with no end in sight. She really thought the world was as eternally enamored with Carrie Bradshaw as she always was. It's ludicrous. What other role/character ever had that staying power?

She must think she's Lucille Ball, and can just keep playing the same thing over and over and over and the audiences will lap it up even as the premise wears thin and the quality dips further and further. But she is not Lucille Ball, the audience today is nothing like the audience that sat through 4 iterations of the same basic sitcom with Lucy, and that social climbing, shoe-shopping, "Luurve-seeking" shallow-as-fuck Material Girl Carrie fucking Bradshaw traipsing around Manhattan like it's her own personal playground has zero relevance in the oligarchic America of 2025.

She should either go away for good and live off her millions, or go away for a long time and come back doing something completely different and unrecognizable from SATC.

Sarah has had an amazing career for an average-looking actress with limited talent. An iconic TV career and a respectable movie career. Her net worth is estimated at $200 million. Her career success is on par with Jennifer Aniston's. Sarah definitely had the better film career.

by Anonymousreply 138August 9, 2025 5:15 PM

Jennifer must have MUCH more money.

by Anonymousreply 139August 9, 2025 10:04 PM

Jennifer Aniston’s net worth is north of $300 million, while SJP’s is about $200 million.

by Anonymousreply 140August 9, 2025 10:08 PM

Friends ran for ten seasons and had a far bigger audience than SATC.

by Anonymousreply 141August 9, 2025 10:10 PM

I could see her hosting some reality show fashion competition for the fraus.

by Anonymousreply 142August 9, 2025 10:19 PM

Good post r137

by Anonymousreply 143August 9, 2025 10:22 PM

I can see her playing a cane faced lesbian … maybe a bitter drama teacher at a community college. If she cut all her hair off another Emmy could be hers!

by Anonymousreply 144August 9, 2025 10:52 PM

Stay out of our lane R144

That’s my role.

If she really wanted to stretch her acting chops, she would have had better opportunities over the past few decades, but she's largely stayed in her Carrie lane and now she's forever typecast in it.

She's now going to need to take guest spots on projects from her producer friends or go back to Broadway with her husband, but I don't think that turned out so well last time.

by Anonymousreply 147August 10, 2025 2:04 AM

R140, no one knows what any of these people are worth. You think these net worth sites are at all accurate???

by Anonymousreply 148August 10, 2025 2:33 AM

unless Jennifer anniston is a money pit of spending, we kind of CAN estimate her net worth and it probably low-balled. Does she have real estate around the world and live a jet set lifestyle? If so, we never hear about that. She appears to always live in one house and have lux but not outrageous holidays with friends and family. Friends alone has generated, from 2004 to 2025 (21 years), around $420 million in residuals per cast member. I wouldn't be shocked to learn Jennifer dies with half a billion and may already be there with investments. After she became super rich, its easy to multiply much higher.
