Duke's is great.
Hellman's is a good standby.
MiracleWhip is crap.

Another 20 minute+ YouTube video. Yay.

Tbh, I was shocked how much I love olive oil-based mayo. The kind I buy has 55% less calories than full mayo and less saturated fat.
Some things just need mayo, but I feel less guilty about it with olive oil-based mayo. They also have avocado-based mayo, but haven't tried that.
The regular reduced fat mayo disappoints.

Hmmmm.... how much will that olive oil-based mayo cost once the tariffs have had their way with that essential oil?

Hellman’s is the best.

mayo is the devil’s food.
bleeeech.

The guy in the video is more diplomatic than most of us. He says the “best” mayo tends to be the one we grew up with and that while there are differences, he would not say one is “better.”

Man, some Dler's have TIME on their hands - not to mention mayonnaise...
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 7, 2025 4:47 PM |
If DLers didn’t have time on their hands, who would write the content? You think Muriel is going to pay for it? Hah!

Am I the only one who thinks Duke's has a musty aftertaste? I also find Kewpie to be underwhelming.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 7, 2025 4:52 PM |
This thread WILL end in tears!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 7, 2025 4:53 PM |
Ah! But did you try the authentic Japanese Kewpie or the ersatz American version with no MSG?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 7, 2025 5:15 PM |
Mayo is so cheap and easy to make ( no sugar). 2 mins with a stick blender and you're done. Kewpie needs dashi powder and egg yolks, not whole eggs. Don't forget a pinch of MSG.

R13 - I've always heard it's easy to make, but I just don't see myself ever going through the trouble.
It's like making your own pastry or filo dough. I just can't be bothered.

Blue Plate is my go-to.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 7, 2025 5:51 PM |
In the last Mayo thread, wasn’t the declared winner Duke’s?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 7, 2025 5:58 PM |
Hellman's Organic is *really* good. But a small jar costs what a big jar of regular Hellmann's costs--or more.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 7, 2025 5:59 PM |
I think Kraft's is the best but not by enough to make much of a difference so I just buy the store brand. Much cheaper.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 7, 2025 7:03 PM |
It's too easy to make one's own to tolerate commercial, bottled crap.
But that's just me. I guess if I grew up that way I wouldn't mind.
