I have an older friend who posts AI analyses of social media posts he doesn’t understand on said social media threads. He thinks it’s a public service to others who also do not understand the posts but don’t know how to use AI, like he does.
What are other ways you’ve seen people interact with AI that’s made you lose hope in humanity?

I refuse to use AI unless compelled to and I don't know anyone who does. I block anyone here who posts "I asked chatGPT..." bullshit, and suspect most of those are AI bots. No one I know has ever said "I asked chat GPT" in real life. I find the sudden appearance online of multiple "posters" across every platform pushing AI in random posts that have nothing to do with AI highly fucking suspect.
I fully believe the dead internet theory and feel like we're already there at this point. Big tech is evil. I want out.

Stupid older gays on Facebook who repost AI-fake photo slop about various musicians visiting other ailing old musicians in the hospital. Yesterday it was McCartney visiting Phil Collins. I'm sorry but if you fail to recognize this as AI, you are a gullible fool and it's only going to get worse; you probably need to stop reposting anything again. EVER.

Yesterday on some Reddit thread an AI video was posted attributing "Brown-eyed Girl" to the Rolling Stones, not Van Morrison. Clearly, AI perceived Morrison's voice as Jagger's. It was one of those videos where they just show a still photo of the band while the music plays.

That’s not a terrible use of AI, actually. It’s pretty good at detecting online sentiment, which is hard to track personally. I’ve had to google the meaning of certain memes more than once to be able to understand what the hell people are going on about.
