Presumably people are leaving ICE in their droves for this relaxation to the recruitment requirements.

R9 It's not wishful thinking, it's just logic. If staff retention in ICE were high they'd have enough people to do the job.

That they're making it far easier to join points to a lack of staff needed to do the job and high staff attrition is likely one of the reasons they don't currently have enough staff (though I accept not the only one).

Also, by using the word "presumably" I thought I made it clear it was my judgement. So your attempt to liken it to "anonymous sources say" is illogical, given the latter is an attempt to sound like a fact, not an opinion.

Finally I don't support open borders. You seem to have the typical "if you're not with us, you're against us" mentality. I think it's stupid to recruit what are essentially kids into ICE, but that doesn't mean I think immigration should be unchecked.

In all the years I've been on the DL, I've never heard anyone say they want "open borders." Ever. The real minority in this country are those endorsing what is going on now. No credible politician has said it either.

I've noticed it too, R14, and they always give themselves away with their words. All we can do is put them on ignore and not give them the time and attention they crave so much. We've seen it happen before on the DL and they eventually leave and find another platform to troll.

The jumping people at their own legitimate and due-process Asylum interviews and hauling them off for deportation, has been especially cruel. And "Alligator Alcatraz."

All throughout the 2024 campaign, the Trump emphasis was on rooting out criminals -- actual CRIME COMMITTING criminals, not this new "well but if they are not US citizens then they came here illegally so that in itself is a crime so now they are all criminals".

ICE has already pulled U.S. citizens off the streets. It didn't matter that they had I.D. proving who they were. ICE has quotas to meet, facilities to fill.

There are a lot of things I'd like to see, and open borders is one of them. Wouldn't it be great if we could freely move between countries, live where ever we like without fear?
