Lauren showed Raskin a great deal of kindness while he was undergoing chemo. Their families spent New Year's together.
I hate her but this does give me some hope for our country.

Wow. A interesting article. Surprising and also makes me hopeful that maybe someday we will put all of this horror behind us.

[quote]They are close enough that Boebert, her mother, four sons and grandson joined Raskin and his family at his house last New Year’s Eve for an evening of Chinese food, conversation and games.
Presumably the Raskins locked up anything of value prior to the Boebert clan's arrival.

We're hoping that his goodness will influence her, but what happens if its the other way around?
Next thing we'll hear: they're f'king!

So he wants to fuck her. Got it.

He’s getting some nookie.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 7, 2025 3:14 AM |
Yeah. People are giving her waaaayyy too much credit. She went to third base with her date in the middle of a full theater. She’s fucking this guy if nothing else. And how soon til he denounces the Democratic Party.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 7, 2025 3:17 AM |
So cynical.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 7, 2025 3:19 AM |
BUT I draw the line at Kid Rock.

Cynical my fat ass.

He's my Congressman. I like him and tend to give him credit and approval. However, I have a close relative who is dubious about him, and she's someone whose opinion I respect. She's also dubious about 'extremist' Democrats getting control of the party and candidates, and alienating everyone even more. Her favorite politician of all was President Biden.

by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 7, 2025 9:47 AM |
This is one thing I hate about most politicians. How they'll gladly cozy up with the enemy. it makes me not trust them even more.

The dirty little secret about Congress is that the Dems and Reps savage each other for public consumption and hang out together in private. The Trump years have certainly brought more rancor to the Hill but Miss Lindsey, for example, is still partying with Dem Senators every chance she gets.

i want to fuck lauren boebert, so i completely understand

R16 is (mostly) describing a Congress of long ago. When the party divides were not so great, with far many more Southern Democrats & moderate to liberal Republicans.

Because she says so. Smart.

And don't forget, that guy was a Democrat too.
It's all very confusing to me.

We don’t need to start questioning Raskin’s bona fides. He’s got receipts.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 8, 2025 11:46 AM |
R11 Honest question, was she okay when Biden was a complete asshole to Anita Hill in defense of SCOTUS nominee Clarence Thomas?
I voted for him but never trusted his whole, “Oh golly, I’m just Joe” schtick after seeing that hearing decades ago.

Consuming politics all day puts us in a state of rage, hate and fear even if we’re trying to fight Republicans who are guilty of unleashing the same in real life. But us going on BlueSky, X or Threads and retweeting biting witticisms does little to fix the problem,
And as we see here, the politicians who help invoke these feelings clock out and enjoy their lives.
Do you see interviews or shows from 25+ years ago and feel they are lucky they are not attached to phones that constantly make them feel like shit about politics, health and humanity?

To Raskin- lay down with dogs…
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 8, 2025 12:14 PM |
r25 I don't recall, that was so long ago. My recollection of that era is that it was one of the most inflammatory political events in a long time, and I don't think people were in their right minds. It was one of the first times I saw women in my workplace spewing so much venom against a woman (Anita Hill).
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 8, 2025 12:32 PM |
R28 It was indeed ages ago. Fellow Democrats close to me didn’t remember that, but that was my first exposure to Biden & I couldn’t believe he was a Dem.
That said, the whole pube on a Coke can thing became the butt of jokes. So that probably took over public consciousness as much as anything.

Jamie is in his 5th term as a representative. I'm very happy that he survived cancer but I'm not a big fan these days. I got tired of seeing his constant presence on TV with the same old schtick. Jamie always seemed desperate to get that national TV time. He made the choice to support the Pelosi cabal with the Biden mess last summer. These politicians (D & R) become so embedded with protecting their position and calculating how to expand their future power.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 8, 2025 1:53 PM |
Remember when Miss Lindsey tested positive for COVID after a cookout on Joe Manchin's houseboat that also included Senators Mark Kelly (D), Jacky Rosen (D), Catherine Cortez Masto (D), Chris Coons (D) and John Thune (R)?
"Up on the party deck, amid the wrought-iron chairs and tables with umbrellas, you might see Trump-allied Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., just months removed from objecting to President Joe Biden’s election, talking college football with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
And see this chair here? Sen. Ted Cruz is said to have once rested his foot atop this seat, standing in the Captain Morgan pose, polishing off three beers in a matter of minutes while talking to one of his most liberal colleagues, then-senator Tom Harkin, D-Iowa. “He was drinking those beers like water,” said former senator Mark Begich, D-Alaska, who watched the conversation in awe."

by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 8, 2025 2:21 PM |
R33 yeah, it's all a dog and pony show. they're employed by the same oligarchs. no surprises. that's why we need a cultural revolution, citizens need to subject them all to public struggle sessions. smash the rotten old ideas.
