Favorite "trashy" author of the 80's/90's
Whose works were catnip to fraus and gay men, and which were frequently made into miniseries for TV.
I'm a huge Jackie fan through and through. I went on a Collins kick years back. I don't care what anyone says, the original Hollywood Wives is a fantastic piece of fiction. No one did decadence like Jackie.
Reality TV had nothing on this kind of extravagance and drama.

I didn't read trash. I read Ann Rule.

Ann Rule was great! She was one of the first true-crime authors. Deserves her own thread!

Christopher Pike and his horror novels. I read most of his books when I was around 10 or 11. I remember not knowing the words "condom" and "semen".

Krantz’s books were filthy but fun. I really liked “Scruples” though I can’t get into “Princess Daisy” as the scene where the older woman “seduces” the 14 year old boy in graphic detail is a bit much for even me and I usually let anything go.

Jackie Collins is fun and there was always a thriller subplot. I love “Lucky” the novel, (not the entire series) and “Hollywood Wives” the best.

R2, great suggestion. I found that book at my grandma’s house as a teen, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Perhaps a deeper cut (but also one my grandma passed down) Rightfully Mine, by Doris Mortman.

I attended book signings for Collins a couple of times closer to the end of her life. She was supremely entertaining, funny, aware of herself as not a literary author and she told great stories. I was sad that she died before she could write an autobiography as it would have been a gas.
