This is a part of the explanation. The number of people who are attracted to partners (unwilling ones, obviously) without secondary sex characteristics is likely smaller than the number of people who will take advantage of a person who is too young to give consent but who may resemble an adult. It's good we condemn what Epstein did, but it really is a misuse of the term pedophilia to call it that.

I mean, yes, I would assume most of his clients would have been into young in the sense of teenagers not young young. But there's the whole rape and torture stuff, which I'm sure went on there. I don't understand the mystery. He let these people do things that were illegal in their own countries with no fear of getting caught. (Or so they thought. Blackmail etc.)

I think quite a few “Masters of Universe” are stupid enough to engage in sexual activities and drugs and wake with a video of himself killing a child in a sexual situation. And some new best friends.

Some of them engage in this stuff a lot. Because they’re evil—probably not the only needlessly destructive activity they engage in.

As the sone in Beauty and the Beast says, "It's a tale as old as time". Youth in girls represents health, vitality, energy, taut skin, nothing sagging, hormones on the upsurge, body parts at the ready, etc. (Everything in fact that these middle-aged and old men are losing rapidly).

Being sexually attracted to they young might be rooted in biology, but since the development of consciousness, people have choices about sexual partners and mates that don't all have to be about fitness to bear healthy children. Epstein and his friends all made poor choices based upon their sagging virility and they exploited young girls who were groomed and prepped for these roles by Ghislaine.
