They closed down for a reason!
Idiots relaunching Bed, Bath and Beyond brick and mortar stores
by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 6, 2025 6:42 PM |
I love BBB and am still mourning its loss.
I hope it makes it!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 5, 2025 5:05 PM |
It was no Linens-N-Things.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 5, 2025 5:10 PM |
It could work with smaller stores. There does need to be some store that sells bedding besides Walmart and Target.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 5, 2025 5:10 PM |
Have they set up a shuttle to all the local nursing homes? It’s their only hope.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 5, 2025 5:11 PM |
I didn’t love BBB but it was one of the only stores within 30 minutes or so of me where I could buy random house stuff like a decent shower curtain or a silverware drawer organizer. I refuse to step foot into a WalMart (or worse) so I’ve taken to ordering that type of stuff on Amazon now, sight unseen which I hate. I’d welcome BBB’s return with tepid gratitude.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 5, 2025 5:14 PM |
I used to love Target for bath and bedding but their selection isn't what it was before COVID.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 5, 2025 5:21 PM |
I do miss Bed Bath & Beyond. While it could be overpriced, it was convenient for picking up a variety of things. Anything they sold could basically be ordered from Amazon and delivered in a day or two, but I miss browsing and being able to grab something I needed right away instead of waiting on shipping.
I'm not sure if they were responsible for the downfall of The Christmas Tree Shops, but I know at point their parent company owned them before they were sold off again (I think). I will never forgive whoever was responsible for that chain's demise!

I miss the store too. One thing I really liked was I could order from their website if I couldn’t find what I needed in their store. If The item didn’t work out, I could drive to their store and return it. No way would I buy a rug, shark appliance or a pergola and try to return it via UPS or mail.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 5, 2025 5:40 PM |
I didn't shop at BBaB very often, but I liked it because you could pick up that saute pan you were considering buying and see how it felt. Same with towels, bedding, etc. If you didn't like it, you didn't buy it, and you didn't have to deal with returning it to Amazon or some other etailer.

I miss the BB&B on 6th Ave because it was one of the few stores in the city with clean public bathrooms.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 5, 2025 6:10 PM |
Sounds like an existing business “Brand House Collective” (FKA “Kirklands”) bought the brand and is sticking it on their existing stores, not really a return of the old stores.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 5, 2025 6:17 PM |
I loved the BBB in West LA but hated their parking garage. I saw Angela Lansbury and Greg Louganis there, no not together. I'd love to see it make a comeback.

I wish they had relaunched it as Bed Bath and Beyond Beautifully Reimagined

Do fatties not still enjoy driving from one strip mall shop to the other buying bags filled with cheap goods just like those sold by BB&B? Then driving their bags of purchases home to dump them in a guest bedroom where they are never reopened until a yard sale to clear the clutter to sell the house you buy another nearer the strip malls?

For the longest time, it seemed like being gay was a requirement for all the male employees at BB&B. Every time I was in a store, all the male employees were gay.
Eventually I started noticing some straight men working there too. Just a few, but they were there. That was about the time I started noticing the quality and brand selection begin to decline too.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 5, 2025 7:28 PM |
The restroom action changed around that time, as well.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 5, 2025 7:29 PM |
Bed Bath And Beyond went out of business. It's the store in name only which is now wholly owned by Wayfair.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 5, 2025 7:31 PM |
They bought the remaining assets and IP. Online, they’ve tried to mirror the original store. This follows. It IS Bed, Bath & Beyond in the DL sense of IS.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 5, 2025 7:33 PM |
There are only two defunct chains that I actually still miss: The Good Earth (restaurant) and Bed, Bath and Beyond. I want to actually touch and feel sheets and bath towels before purchasing, and BBaB was the only place around me where you could do that. Sure, Amazon has great prices and return policies, but that's no substitute for being able to make the right choice the first time.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 5, 2025 7:47 PM |
No Magic Pan love? ;)
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 5, 2025 7:50 PM |
R28 OMG! Another The Good Earth lover! The tea! The rolls with butter! The soup! The chicken nachos! The desserts!

The Planet Burger, the peanut butter blondies with Haagen Dazs honey vanilla ice cream...
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 5, 2025 8:22 PM |
This Bed Bath and Beyond bit is so stupid, but I always think about it when I think of the store…

It should be concerning to people that there are fewer and fewer specialty stores and that the main modes of shopping are Target, Walmart and Amazon. And Target's sales are plummeting, which could lead to Walmart and Amazon running everything. And neither store has a stellar reputation when it comes to how they treat their employees.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 5, 2025 9:27 PM |
We'll be back very soon. No, really. Seriously!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 5, 2025 9:41 PM |
I also loved the one on 6th Ave. in Manhattan. I would buy all kinds of shit, instead of running all over the city and tell the cashier to deliver it for an extra 10 bucks. It reminded me of an old five and dime. Crowded to the ceilings with a little bit of everything
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 5, 2025 9:43 PM |
R16 - When I was just out of college and living in West LA (mid-90's), I went to the BB&B and remember it being huge. I had just moved to a new apartment and had never really given a shit about shower curtains, matching towels, kitchen gadgets, etc. But BB&B got me hooked. I got giddy in there and spent . . . $200!! That was a lot for me (and I even returned something cuz I felt so guilty). lol
I'd love to shop there again. 🥲

Have you seen most Americans? They only want to wear pajamas and crocs. The era of wearing nice clothes (if you're middle or lower class) is over. You can get cheap Chinese clothes at big box stores. Why look elsewhere?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 5, 2025 10:59 PM |
If they relaunch, I hope they drop the interrogation they used to conduct at checkout.
That is what kept me from shopping there more often in-person. What's your zip code? Email? Phone number? Address? Date of Birth? Last time you had sex? What did you have for breakfast? What is your shoe size? OMFG. Just let me pay for this one item without the 20 questions. And if you put in a bogus answer to try and by-pass their unnecessary inquisition the register would lock up and the cashier would have to call over a manager to unlock it with a magic key to continue the cross-examination.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 5, 2025 11:08 PM |
I really liked shopping at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Like R28, I like to feel the sheets before I buy.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 5, 2025 11:38 PM |
Who will resurrect our names from the trash heap of retail history??
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 5, 2025 11:45 PM |
R40, The little house that's three doors down from my house is a Sears Craftsmen house.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 5, 2025 11:48 PM |
You couldnt beat their quality . Every rug or towel or sheets I bought there lasted forever. You buy the same crap from Penneys or Target Or Wallyworld and it might last a year or two.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 6, 2025 12:33 AM |
But what of the low-rise square crated coffee tables, and the pewter tea sets made to be seen yet not used, since appearance is what matters??
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 6, 2025 12:53 AM |
R43 - That reminds me of my favorite "Friends" episode. It was such a good idea!
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 6, 2025 12:58 AM |
The store I miss the most is the 99 Cents Only chain. Dollar Tree is a joke.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 6, 2025 1:05 AM |
R45 If only dollar tree had produce and beer.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 6, 2025 1:11 AM |
Apparently they're going to honor their old coupons.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 6, 2025 1:40 AM |
I was told the two biggest moneymakers for BBB were the 6th Ave. location and the WLA location. The WLA location also was strongly affiliated with Cost Plus so there was lots of exotic foods there as well. Once they moved them out, I knew the end was nearing.

Bloodbath & Beyond

I miss Cost Plus (and when it was called that).
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 6, 2025 4:27 AM |
Do you all not have access to an Ikea? You're not limited to Walmart or Target. I don't like Ikea's linens but I go there first for basic kitchen and bathroom items.
I would even go to that center of Frau culture, Home Goods, before I would go back to a Bed Bath and Beyond.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 6, 2025 4:56 AM |
" Like [R28], I like to feel the sheets before I buy."
Is that a euphemism for premarital sex?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 6, 2025 5:59 AM |
[quote]Do you all not have access to an Ikea? You're not limited to Walmart or Target. I don't like Ikea's linens but I go there first for basic kitchen and bathroom items.
There is NO comparison. You are comparing apples to oranges. Ikea is NOTHING like Bed Bath and Beyond.
Are you kidding? Ikea sells cheap, basic shit. You can buy the same (or better) quality at Walmart and not have to shlep out to Ikea
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 6, 2025 6:46 AM |
My nearest IKEA is over an hour away. Not worth it for their sheet/towel selection.

Cost Plus still exists -- it's World Market in most places, but it's still Cost Plus. They hung on while Pier 1 and the Bombay Co. couldn't.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 6, 2025 3:09 PM |
R45 Dollar Tree is now essentially Five Below. They have items up to 10 bucks now. They need to do a rebrand and an actual 1 Dollar store should take its place.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 6, 2025 3:51 PM |
R56 - Yes! I do know that they have been called World Market for many years now. And frankly, that's a much better name for the vibe they're attempting to cultivate with their merchandise. I'm staring at my outdoor wicker chairs I bought from them online during Covid, in fact. They're still in great shape!
The name "Cost Plus" just reminds me of being a kid. I remember going there as a teenager and discovering some of the stuff that Santa Claus had put in my stocking as a child that I thought was sooo exotic (that Japanese rice candy with the wrapper you could eat, e.g.).
