Morbid Monday: Aalborg Zoo Asks Danes to Donate Pets as Predator Food
The sickest part is how they ask this with a straight face.
They want to help their captive predators feel like hunters again, so rather than feed them boring prepared meats, they'd like to enrich their diets with an occasional whole animal carcass. They promise your pet will be humanely euthanized before being fed to the predators.
They're reportedly accepting any animal, from guinea pigs to horses, for the program.
But wouldn't the drugs they use to put a bunny rabbit to sleep somehow taint the carcass and poison whatever animal ate it?

If I needed to euthanize a superannuated or ill pet, and the program was free, I would consider it.

Plus, the article mentions that the animals will be euthanized before feeding them to the lions anyways. They aren't going to throw live, conscious dogs in there.

If they were truly interested in making the predators feel like hunters again, they would release live animals so the predators could hunt them and eat them, all for the entertainment of the zoo patrons. Imagine the thrill little kids would get in seeing a hyena maul and devour a litter of puppies. Never mind, only American Republicans would be thrilled.

Chinese zoos feed live animals to their lions and tigers as entertainment. The videos are on Youtube {which I won't post). The Danes seem pretty cold-blooded.
