OP here. I love the man and his ability to act. I just thought he was in his mid-60s when I watched during the original run.

First saw him in Angel Heart with DeNiro and Mickey Rourke. 1987. He looked middle-aged then.

Yeah it’s called baldness, OP. That bald head severely ages your appearance which severely restricts the roles you can play. That’s why actors wear hairpieces and get plugs and transplants because hair will make or break your career. The last thing you want is to appear older than you really are.

Look at Kevin Costner. Every dollar he’s made over the past 20 years is owed to his hair transplant. If he let himself go bald like Florek, we’d probably be making WHET threads about him.

Dann Florek has looked 50 since he was 35.

Today, he looks about 55. A bald and plain 55 but still...55.

When L&O started and Florek was Greevey and Logan's lieutenant, I thought Dann was so freakin' hot. The man was built and I got serious Daddy vibes from him.

I worked with him on the Smile workshop. Jeff McCarthy replaced him on Bway. Nice guy. Very talented.

Florek was such a welcome staple on that show (SVU). He made me believe that police station was a real place.

There was a two-parter episode once where he falls for a Russian(?) hooker or something (she dupes him and I think he breaks his sobriety) and it gave him a chance to really "act" and flesh out who Cragen was besides the all-business guy at the precinct. They were great episodes.

He is an excellent actor who ran rings around everyone else on SVU. Too bad Mariska didn’t learn any lessons about subtlety from him.
