This gory reimagining of the 1959 B-movie classic is so much better than it's given credit for. Some of the surreal visuals are seriously disturbing, but the entire thing is laced with heaps of black humor and a retro, schlocky self-awareness. Geoffrey Rush as the sarcastic theme park mogul chews the scenery, and Famke Janssen is wonderful as his disaffected, sociopathic cunt wife. You've also got Taye Diggs, Ali Larter, Bridgette Wilson, Peter Gallagher, and Chris Kattan rounding out their list of party guests, plus those random appearances by James Marsters and Lisa Loeb in the very beginning of the film. For what it is, it's perfect.
The 1999 remake of "House on Haunted Hill" remake is an excellent horror movie
