Meet NOVA the Vampire Slayer! Vampire 🧛🏻🪈
Ryan Armstrong is playing Nova the vampire slayer — a rather appropriate name, being Latin for "new."
In other casting news, the report states that young actor Kingston Vernes will portray Carson, a popular student and Junior Olympian who Nova will have a crush on.
Unlike other recent cast confirmations, Vernes' role is planned as a recurring character. Earlier this week, details were released on the rest of the Buffy reboot's core cast — including what appeared to be confirmation of its new 'Scooby Gang.'
This included Severance's Sarah Bock as Gracie, Law & Order: SVU's Ava Jean as Larkin, and Faly Rakotohavana as Hugo. Major Crimes' Daniel di Tomasso plays Abe, while Frasier's Jack Cutmore-Scott is the mysterious Mr. Burke.
Per a previous casting leak, Gracie is Nova's best friend, while Hugo is another friend with a crush on Nova. Mr. Burke, meanwhile, will be the new school librarian — a throwback to the original series' Giles.
Deadline reports that a writer's room has been assembled, and production on a full first season will likely begin in March 2026 if the series' forthcoming pilot is picked up by Hulu for a full season.
There's no word yet on any further returning characters other than Buffy herself, but Gellar — who also serves as an executive producer on the project — has said she hopes to see other classic characters (but not Alyson Hannigan) return. Indeed, Buffy actress Charisma Carpenter has already told IGN she'd be keen to appear, after an "unjust" end to her character on spin-off Angel.

Ryan Kiera Armstrong is 15 (born in 2010), which means the new vampire slayer officially comes from Generation Alpha!
Zoomers found dead in a ditch, no one wants them anymore.

r2 That was OP's own editorial insertion, here's her original comment.
[quote]“It will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original. We will try to find a balance between new and old characters. My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.”

Whedon may be creepy and toxic but he knew how to tell a story. There’s nothing here for fans of the original, who couldn’t care less about teenagers now.
This doesn’t sound promising.

So that earlier leak that called him an "out-and-proud nerd" was referring to his nerdom and not to his sexuality, then. That's a bummer, will we get yet another Buffy show with no male gays?

Sarah Michelle Gellar is getting ready to slay, hard at work training the new slayer
The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” actress, who is set to star in the series reboot, posted a video to her social media of the two training at a gym in preparation to take on the vampire-slaying roles. Gellar wrote, “Warrior 1 and 2 We don’t sweat … we sparkle.”
In the video, Gellar can be seen doing squats on a half exercise ball, doing TRX pulls and much more. Impressive at her age.
