Pete Hegseth has discussed running for governor of Tennessee in 2026
What a fucking clown. What makes Hegseth think that he's any more qualified to be governor than secretary of defense?
He's not qualified for either. If he wants to enter politics, he needs to get some experience and start off as a city counselor or state rep. He's a morning weekend host of Fox. He is not qualified for a high-level executive role.
All these assholes think they can start at the top and keep failing upward.

One of the people said their discussion with Hegseth happened within the past three weeks and that it was serious, not simply spitballing ideas. The other person, who also characterized it as serious, wouldn’t say when they had spoken — except that it was since Hegseth became defense secretary in January. The two sources, along with others in this article, were granted anonymity to speak candidly.

JD Vance is the Vice President and has zero politcal experience. Bernie Moreno is the Sentator from Ohio and has zero poltical experience. Maga has proven experience is not a requirement.

Hegseth Secretly Discussed Leaving the Pentagon to Run for Office
The embattled defense secretary would have to resign to pursue a campaign.

R3. Experience is required for competency.
Trump, Vance, Moreno show that they can get elected because every asshole has an inflated sense of self voted in my stupid fucking voters.
Maybe there should be a competency test for voting.

Vance was a Senator for 2 years. Obama was a Senator for a little less than 3 when he ran for President. Obama had relatively little experience on the national level before he became President.

r7 Obama Harvard Law Graduate - Editor of Harvard Law Review. First black president of Harvard Law Review.Obama directed Illinois Project Vote from April to October 1992, a voter registration drive, officially nonpartisan, that helped Carol Moseley Braun become the first black woman ever elected to the Senate. Obama taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School for twelve years, as a Lecturer for four years (1992–1996), and as a Senior Lecturer for eight years (1996–2004).During this time he taught courses in due process and equal protection, voting rights, and racism and law. He published no legal scholarship, and turned down tenured positions, but served eight years in the Illinois Senate during his twelve years at the university. Barack Obama served three terms in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004, when he was elected to the United States Senate. During this part of his career, Obama continued teaching constitutional law part time at the University of Chicago Law School as he had done as a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996, and as a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004.
Born and raised in Middletown, Ohio, Vance served in the U.S. Marine Corps and deployed to the Iraq War as a military journalist. He earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and a law degree from Yale Law School. After briefly working as a corporate lawyer and Senate aide, Vance became a venture capitalist at Peter Thiel's Mithril Capital. In 2016, he published Hillbilly Elegy, a bestselling memoir that brought him national attention.
Hardly the same politcal experience.

R7. I would agree with you about Obama; however, Obama is a smart, knowledgeable man and he succeeded because he has a brain and good political instincts.
Hegseth is a fucking idiot with no experience. Vance is a vile, deceitful motherfucker. He was selected for his role as vp. He is not qualified.

Hegseth is a fuck up and in over his head, and he's looking for an off-ramp out or the Pentagon.
Or he's been told--"you're not qualified--look for a way out of here or be fired."

That arrogant motherfucker thinks he can continue to fall upwards.
Sure, he’s grossly unqualified, stupid as a box of used condoms and utterly clueless, but he’s a white bibble beatin MAAAAN, hunny!
That’s all it takes to be “qualified” for maggots.
As others have pointed out - Mareno is a fucking USED CAR SALESMAN who STOLE FROM HIS EMPLOYEES, just the dumb in fucking shithole Ohio didn’t GAF. He was stuck up the traitor’s ass and that’s ALL that matters to them.

R14. Yes, but now they have seen him action, and they know he's an embarrassment and even more unqualified than they thought. Trump is enough of an embarrassment, and he doesn't like to be embarrassed by others in his cabinet.

Just because someone can get elected, does not mean that they are qualified.
It would be a worthwhile pursuit to work toward experience and qualifications rather than a blatant power grab, which is the case with Hegseth who moved to Tennessee a couple of years ago and may not meet the residential requirements.
Hegseth can run for city council or state rep to gain some political experience. Who the fuck does he think he is trying to start off in the top position> No way is he qualified to be governor. Or go back to the morning couch at Fox.

Hegseth's "qualifications" (or lack thereof) had nothing to do with his being hired as Secretary of Defense. He's a spineless drunk who will blindly follow any marching orders given to him by Trump. That is the sole reason this douchebag was even considered in the first place.
