Warner Bros Discovery is dead to me

The company is splitting into two entities which will be called, respectively, Warner Bros. and Discovery

So what exactly has been accomplished?

TimeWarner’s cable entities save HBO are now part of Discovery Global (CNN, TNT, TBS, etc.)

Warner Bros now consists of all the most valuable assets for an acquisition.

[QUOTE] At the new Warner Bros., Bruce Campbell will be Chief Operating Officer. His title currently is Chief Revenue and Strategy Officer.

Bruce has certainly come a long way.

This sounds exhausting.

It is!

Comcast wanted to buy WB years ago but they didn’t want to buy all that other stuff. This split eliminates the part of WBD that might cause regulatory trouble for Comcast, as it will replicate Disney’s acquisition of Fox.

Is DC still part of Warners?

The second this happens (and I'm sure it will), Universal will flatten 75% of the remaining soundstages on their lot and add to the theme park.

They will move everything over to the WB lot.

Yes, that’s the goal. That’s why Universal is razing CityWalk and put permits for two resort hotels on the site. Film production has fallen so far in Los Angeles that two big backlots aren’t needed adjacent to each other. The site will become the Universal Hollywood Resort.

R1, he’s pretty put together for an exec.

by Anonymousreply 7July 29, 2025 7:07 AM

It was a terrible merger, anyway.

So what exactly has been accomplished?

Easy: the good parts go thisaway (WB), and the bad parts go thataway (Discovery).

R4 Yes.

R6 I remember the days when the Universal studio tour was a thing for visiting relatives. Look, the shark from Jaws! It was a simpler time.

The streamer that was formerly known as HBO/Max, Max, and now HBO/Max.

by Anonymousreply 12July 29, 2025 4:51 PM

Incorrect. It is HBOMax.

by Anonymousreply 13July 29, 2025 4:57 PM

HBO Max. I stand corrected.
