I had seen a few episodes before and the show was pretty funny. I like the interplay among the ensemble - sharp writing.
I have just started watching the series from the beginning, and it is still very funny but like a family sitcom with AA as another invisible character.
I will be interested to see how they go from this beginning to the ensemble with veteran comedy actresses.

Actors dropped out one by one. I’m glad Faris’s daughter eventually left as she just scowled through every scene.
The recovery group was more interesting.

It does change - it was originally more about just the mom/daughter and the daughter's kids, but it slowly became an ensemble of the Mom, her friends and her daughter.
